I hate v022! It is unplayable! Every single game I have played has resulted in the Soviet Union declaring war on Germany in June of 1940, at the latest! Sometimes as early as April. Naturally this ruins the game when Germany is defeated by Russia before it even knocks over France. I tried turning the AI aggressiveness down to Coward, but still no good.
Nothing ahistorical at all. Molotov-Ribbentop pact, Norway invasion, DOW on Netherlands, Belgium, Luxwmburg. All pretty much by the book. The Soviets DOW on Germany happens whether the AI or I am playing Germany.

Well, something must have happened... I haven't seen Russia declaring war on Germany prior to the fall of France all of a sudden, and I had my fair share of test runs on 0.22.
Do you have a game history log available? And did you start over from scratch, or are all the 'every single game' runs based on the same save?
I might as well hijack this thread a bit and ask if v022 is more stable than v01? My enthusiasm for this mod kinda died down as my two games (one as Finland and the other as USA) both kinda crashed in mid-1943 - for some reason, the game crashed whenever I tried to load a game that had been saved after mid-1943.
That one was fixed as early as the 0.11 hotfix, Ghost...
Anyway, version 0.10 was launched somewhat early due to huge pressure from the community (the crash was a known issue, but the cause still unknown - by launching it regardless it was hoped the cause could be found, correctly as it turned out). Nowadays we're only launching after a beta test period (in the case of 0.20 lasting about a month), which tend to iron out these crashes, and so far always can be traced down to tweaks in the tech tree (non-existing tech numbers are activated causing the crash). We had one found and fixed during the 0.2 beta test period, actually. As we now know the primary cause they're proving far more easy to hunt down.
Version 0.22 is stable, virtually bug-free, and with a challenging AI. As such it makes a huge difference compared to 0.1. Was 0.1 laying the foundation to the CORE tech trees it only had default AI. Version 0.2 is the first truly mature, playable version (from a gamers point-of-view), and will prove to be a challenge to play.

but it is finished they moved on to dd from what i read. no more work on .22. sad if they would do more for the graphics it would be great as it is i love the tech tree but hate the graphics. more events would make it even better but it appears that no more will be done for it.
Many of the graphics fixes will be easily adaptable for 0.22 since most of the time consuming part is the actual finding and formating of the images. I would guess that will unnecessary though. More people are going to be running DD, so there probably won't be that much demand for updates to earlier versions. Granted there are still people that regret the fact that we aren't supporting CORE1, but they are a distinct minority. The same thing will probably happen with DD.
Just because the development team is moving our focus to DD doesn't mean that people can't continue to create material for non-DD CORE. It just won't have the support of the extensive beta testing team and will most likely not become an "official version" in the same sense that 0.22 did. If it appears that enough material is created for an update, we will look at that when the time comes.
I would debate that, but that probably isn't suprising. Well, the unplayable part anyway. It probably wouldn't do me any good to debate whether or not you hate version 0.22.

We are interested in trying to determine what the problem was. Would it be possible for you to upload a history file or save game so we can determine what happened in your case? Without more information there isn't much that we can do to troubleshoot.
In the games that I have played and watched, the Soviet-German war has usually started in mid-1941 with the Germans as the agressors. There are occasional games (less than 10%) which unfold faster than that, but that is usually the result of an ahistorical choice by one country.
I am curious to see your game (I assume it is one saved game played numerous times from a common starting point) to see why the German belligerence would be so high to encourage a delaration of war by the Soviets. Another possibility is the actions of one of your allies drawing the Soviets in a war and dragging you in with them.
There are a lot of options so without seeing a history or saved game file it is going to be difficult to make a determination. If it is a problem with CORE itself, that information will be helpful in ensuring that a bug does not get into future releases.

Count me in that "distinct minority". I have to say that I have never played a mod for any game more than I played CORE for HOI1. Great work to all involved, and maybe someday I'll enjoy HOI2 as much as I did the original.
Well, I have played as GER in this version several times and I was never DOW'd by the USSR until after 1941 -- on the opposite side -- I played as USSR and was not DOW'd by GER until after 1942, and only when I did it to them.......
I played the "traditional" role, following the historical choices....
From my perspective, I think that CORE is one of the best mods out --
--you are allowed to make doctrinal choices, and then you have the opportunity to develop more options in your wargaming development after that.....you can't make an "all-encompassing" strategy and get the best of "both worlds".....
Having said all that, you do have the option of using the vanilla and other mods -- also with their own flavour......switch around a bit....
I played a game with Canada--fun to play minor. The game was pretty enjoyable 'till 1944. Germany and SU were fighting a good war in the east.
I landed about 20 marine-infantry division in northern France and Netherlands in 44. I manage to capture a lot of terrain before the germans arrived. The problem is that i NEVER had any help from my allies. The US had many units sitting in England. afther weeks of hard battle. I decided to get control of the US army just so I could get the across the channel. I got a couple of army group and gave back military control to the owner. Guess what. They stayed still on the beach for weeks. Thy NEVER moved! I was pissed! I finally quit the game. I would not have hold very long with my limited canadian fighting on his own the rest of the world.
Anyway, any thoughts on this AI issue would be well received. I still think the mod has a lot of potential (i had great games in the pas with Germany)but something should be done about this.
The next version will be for DD which has some improvements in the AI department. Ai's not working together however is a vanilla HoI problem that we will try and work on improving but will most likely never be able to remove completely.
