Corruped save game file?

I'm playing EEP Fantasy grand campaign as the byzantines. I made it to around 1540. When I tried to load my autosave of the game today, it stopped loading as the bar was going along reading scenario files. All of my other save games work, except for the oldautosave which is the same byzantine game. Is there any way for me the fix this? Or did I just waste 120 years of gametime?

Well, I my game CtD's when IO try to reload a saved game ...

I start a game, and after a while it CtD's (like EU2 does once in a while). I then load the autosave, and it just CtD's. No warnings, no nothing. Just straight to desktop.
Any clue why?
 
Aarrghh ... Oh well. Anyway, I DID get a VERY odd event (in my recent game as Denmark) where I was supposed to choose the future capitol of Austria (or perhaps the Roman Empire, as I think it was the 'capitol of the Empire' or something, the event was called.

Ahh, now I understand those odd events that people have been getting! That's events where the country line is missing, and then the player will get them, no matter what he's playing.
 
Im having the EXACT same problem playing the Roman Empire. I had a save at around 1427 I could load, but after that I couldn't load a thing. It freezes at the loading scenarios section of the load bar. You said it can be corrected, how do we do it?? I dont care if it takes time, I spent hours getting to 1441 and I want to continue from there.
 
Open the save and search for provinces 645, 646, 1606 and 1608. Make sure they are only owned by one nation and remove the others. The nations owning them are probably China, Manchu and Chagatai Horde. There are several other threads on this bug, where info on how to do it if you feel uncertain of how the save file is constructed.
