Naming a unit with a quotation " mark will cause HOI to CTD upon reload. Editing your save game and removng the extra " will fix the problem.

There is a small tool called 'HoI-Fix' (or something like that) that you can find somewhere (perhaps via search function) that does this automatically. For those people who are a bit lazy.
