Howdy!

I am playing Russia in TGC and I have a monopoly in Novgorod and the newly created Nelma. Nelma has a potential of 1400 and (with a rate of about 50% coming to me. In Novgorod I should get considerably less. The Prob is I am not getting that big Nelma Payoff. I have a series of Colonies and trading posts between mainland Russia and Nelma. I get about 200 a year for everything and I want my 700 from Nelma alone.

HELP!

Major discrepancy between cash received and income-expenses.

I think that I have experienced a similar phenomenon. I'm playing single player as Austria and am in the late 1720's. Have conquered several neighbors and highly developed trade and infrastructure. "The Archive" shows income of nearly 1800 units of currency and expense of around only 200 units of currency in a given year. Why is it that I only receive about 200 units of currency on January 1 each year? Seems like I should have a much larger income if "the archive" is right. Very frustrating.

hidden money

possibly,

the money that you do not notice is all going across into research..
when you have a profitable (500+) CoT monopoly it is possible to open the income slider way up to give anything up to 100 a month at an inflation penalty of only 1/2% per year - and if you can't afford a few extra govenors with that income you must have a bad spending habit.
I think thias is the way the money works anyway.
the best way when you are puzzled is to try & alter your gameplay, and see what changes.
i know it is difficult when you have a method, but there may be another one better out there...

Heretic

To make it simple, there are two incomes, monthly income and yearly income.

Yearly income is only census taxes collected from various provinces

Everything else- gold, CoTs, production incomes etc is your montly income- it is divided between research and your treasury.

So, even if you had monopoly, and trade level to get 700 from it, you don't get it every January, you get 1/12th of it every month. Simple as that.

Basically, all the finance screens deal with your montly income, only place you can see your yearly is in ledger- census taxes

As hjarg says, you're getting everything. The best place for keeping an eye on your financial health is in the "monthly income breakdown" available to the left of the game window. You should also notice some quite healthy sums going into tech research.

And if you want to understand the economy in more detail, click here for a "beta" diagram.

I feel like Satan everytime I make this post. Leading people to the darkside of EU - the economy. :D

Ohhh gawd, it seemed so easy until i saw your diagram. Thank you for all the starving children who will most definetly appear when i go to bankrupcy the next time

Yeah I discovered that diagram a while back... Very informative and useful, but it gives me the shivers every time I see it :p

You should see what it does to me. Shudder. I won't elaborate.

It does not reflect religious adjustments to incomes (the calculations seem to be fine for Catholic). I haven't figured that stuff out. It is not any of the documented figures in the manual or some other figures that have been thrown around in various posts. I do think there is evil at work here... :D

Still, a good piece of work, that. Congratulations.

Have I said this before?:)

I'm trying. ;) But you'll remember, BiB, that I have that whole ritual sacrifice thing to do - it really slows down the posting rate. :D

He's slowed down quite a bit, though, eh? I remember the days when I had 300 and BiB had 1300, then I had 400 and BiB had 2400, then I had 500, and BiB had 3500...

BiB are you spending yourself on super-secret EU II forums? :D
