I see this closed thread about COTN's version of EU II and am wondering what the deal is with 'not supported'. As if the COTN version of EU II isn't identical to EU II 1.07?

If I didn't buy COTN, I wouldn't have been introduced to EU II (out of sheer frustration with COTN being soo overly simple). As a long-time Civilization gamer, I'm very excited to be trying EU II - seems massively complex and has a very active community.

OK, so I paid $29 for COTN - which is complete crap. I'm now playing EU II. I don't want to buy EU II as well - is there anywhere I can get a complete, functional manual to EU II? The PDF on the COTN CD is missing every other page (or so it has been reported in reviews about the product).

Thanks in advance...

Why don't you have a look in the CoTN forum? There's a link there (to strategy first's CoTN site) where a full EU2 manual can be downloaded.

When they say 'Not supported', as Castellon basically said in that sticky, they don't want to be the final place of blame if you run into installation/running problems... I assume, however, that there is very little/no functional difference between CoTN's EU2 and EU2 1.07, so there's no reason to go out and buy EU2 (especially since the printed manual would be a bit of a waste anyway -- because it doesn't deal in specifics it's not a very useful reference).

I can understand why you would want to read the manual at least once. ;)

After that you really want the FAQ forum and then the General forum for specific questions. The game has changed so much since the Manual was printed that it is pretty useless.

However as Wryun mentioned, we did not release that version so you must take your complaint to SF. They have posted a new PDF with the complete manual on thier site.

Have fun and welcome to the forum.

I will add that note about the corrected manual being on the SF website to the sticky thread on the subject.

Thanks all. Got that updated manual PDF. I stopped going to the COTN forum out of frustration with the game and the significantly lower activity on that board.

Am taking in as much EUII as time will allow without reading the manual - only having played through the tutorials (which offers some but not all info I need).

You will find the guys on this site very friendly and quick to answer any questions you have. And if they are not friendly, well that's what I am here for, just let me know by PM.
