When the Netherlands gains independence and a new COT is opened there, my COT in Flanders is reduced to 2-4 provinces, witch I think is rather inconvenient.

Can I edit my savegame to remove the COT in Flanders and assign those provinces to 'Paris'?

Or is it just possible to erase the COT and then let the gameengine redistrbute the provinces?

Or do I just have to live with the Flanders COT...

You get 3gc per every merchant in your COT per year. So don't compete there, let everyone stay. You get more profit out of it. At least by having full monopoly, you get +18 year. Every little bit helps. And you get +1 merchant for every COT you own, no matter how small it is.

One nearly everytime pops up in East Indies... on the island somewhere there. Useful one too: it takes trading from about half of China. Another one pops in Easter Sibir, near Pacific. Is a COT for the other half of China and Nippon. Happenend in nearly every game i had. Also one comes somewhere in Central America.

This was posted on another thread by Stefan Huszics:

'In Province.csv there is a column named 'CoT Historical Modifier'. The value there ranges from +5 to -3. Take a look there if you want a 'preminition' of where CoT's are likely to appear (higher is better).'

I tend to let the other nations build loads of CT's while I concentrate it all on one city. Pays off in the end. I once as Russia had one city in the whoel of America and I had all the trade from the North come to me :D

That would mean that you are better off establishing colonies in far off places than trading posts.

That way you can contol the establishment of CoTs, and make them defensible in strategic terms.

It's too expensive to build only colonies, especially since trading posts have such great value for their cost (and lots of them will make the COT worth more, when it appears). Of course, you want to be sure to build at least one colony so that you can get the COT.
