When I have some event (like to buy new palace, for example), my pc crash and I must use CTRL+ALT+CANC to regain control; also a little window appear for debug (???) with C++

I haven't program stay resident (only system clock) and I use version 1.04 of EU2 italian version.

My pc runs Win 95 relase B (with winsocket 2, naturally), processor AMD K6 II 400 with 256 Mb Ram, sk video Riva TNT2 M64 and sk audio SB Live.

Sounds more like a running problem or a video driver. Try over here in the support forum first.

I'll have you completely remove your video drivers with a small utility:
http://www.guru3d.com/detonator-destroyer/
follow the instructions on the page (if you have any questions, do not hesitate to post)

then reinstall these drivers: http://www.nvidia.com/docs/lo/531/SUPP/Win9x_12.41.exe

it's not the latest, but for a TNT/TNT2 it won't change anything (new features only work with GeForce) and they are a bit more stable.

Nope, others game have benefit from it and now works properly (thank you very much!), but EU2 continue crashing :-(
The events that seems bugged is "recruit artisans" and modificators for defensive/offensive war doctrine, others work fine: crash is done when I point the mouse (the "little hand") in "button" related to that event (sort of OnMouseMove)

When I have crash, the small window seems to reporting problem related to a file from directx and ask a debug for a file from a phantomatic drive E (I haven't in my pc, I have only HD in C and D).

I have Directx 8 properly installed and cecked on my pc.

Please help me, game is a bit unplayable with this problem.

ok random events problem.

It is weird as my beta has never crashed this way.

I will try to look at these two, but I think it could be something related to the translation. I suppose you use the Italian version?

Yes, I've Italian version.

Can be Win 95 madness (I remember that DirectX 8 isn't tested very well for this old OS), but others game never have problem (or just related to video drivers).

Many thanks, I hope you can find the solution.

congratulations! :D I think you have found a bug. You are two guys with the Italian version to report the same problem. I have tried testing some of these events but none make my game crash, so I truly think it has something to do with the translation process (maybe they erased a comma or something).

It's either that or it's one of the bug Johan has fixed for 1.05 (due in a few weeks).

I will inquire in the beta forum.

Many thanks, I'll expect news on this problem in general debug newsgroup of EU2

The problem you have is really one of translation and therefore you should contact the Italian publisher. It is usually caused by a " % " sign in a text string (for example a title event: You lose 5% or your income" will crash.

I really don't know :( Translations are up to the publisher. The problem has been signaled to Johan and maybe he will talk with them, but aside that I know nothing.

Ok, i have noticed that this bug occurred to me invariantly when i tried to choose option B in "Cessation of church functions to nobility". to be precise i couldn't even pass the cursor over it, because that would cause the program to exit to the desktop. i checked randomevents.txt and i noticed that this event and "build a great palace" both affect VPs. i believe the same problem may be expected from event "sale of offices" since it has exactly the same effects as "Cessation". i think it's related to events altering VPs.

make it: i'm almost sure it's related to vp altering events, because i did a few tests. i'd like to know if there's a way to disable pop-up windows that detail events effects, that may (just may) solve the problem. or to select an option without using the cursor.

CTD on forming of russia, help please

I started a game as Muscowy. In 1520, it brings me the pop-up window asking me if i want to take Byzantium's old claim (or something like that, sorry but i have the italian version).

Everytime i try to move the mouse cursor on the options in the window i get booted on the desktop.

This happened in 1520, and also in 1521 (cause i got in war with Ottoman empire and so the russia forming event maybe waited me to be at peace).

I run 1.04 version (italian). The game has been started as 1.04.

If someone can help, thanks. I am basically stucked in 1520 since can't go on.

you could edit the file and remove these two events, or modify them to simply delete the command that modifies the VPs.

in the DB\Events folder, you'll see a file called major_mos.txt and in the config folder, you'll find a file named text.csv.

send me those two file at viper37@sympatico.ca . zip them if you can please :)

I'll look at it and see if I can reproduce the crash with those files and if I can make a correction.
