EU still sometimes crashes during a game simply returning to windows.
I got the newest version (1.09)

OS: WIN98SE

hardware:

8.4 Gb quantum harddrive
350 Mhz AMD-K6 3D-NOW
128 Mb SD-RAM
GE-Force 32 Mb DDR-RAM with 350 Mhz GPU
Creative Soundblaster
MS compatible PS/2 mouse and keyboard

I played on my saving again and it crashed. And this saving makes EU crash more than usually. In this game I'm playing as turkey, and when annexed hungary-austria the crashes started appearing... I think they are related to my war against immense nubmers rebel scums...
I hired about 600000 infantries to keep down all these rebellious peasants, I don't know but it sounds probable to me.

I have just installed 1.09 and tried to resume a saved game from 1.08 with Portugal in 1743. Four times I have found the animation very jerky and it has crashed every single time. Each time I have tried to do something different ie. war with Spain, war with England, just reinforce and raise troops and finally work on my CoTs. Boom, down it goes to Windows 2000 desktop after a few years. None of the jerky movements of ships etc. was apparent in 1.08 as in 1.09. I may just remove it and go back to 1.08. Very disappointing.:(

Hi Patric,

thanks for the NA 1.09!

One quick thing, it seems the crash to desktop bug has not been fixed (or some other fixe has re-broken it :D)

18 months into my Gc and quick exit to desktop.

Here are my stats:

P3 866MHz
128 RAM
5GB free HDD space
ATI Rage 128 32MB video card
50x Mitsui CD-ROM
ASUS CUSL2-C Motherboard
SoundBlaster Pro 128 PCI sound card
Win2K

No resident programs running

Thanks.

Me too. Have 1.09 and the latest IGC loaded. Have experienced a couple, random crashes to desktop and the game froze my computer on December 10, 1792 (right in the middle of a last, desperate battle to try and beat France to 2nd place - I was playing as Poland). Don't know if it matters but rebooting just prior to game play seems to alleviate the crash problem. If I don't reboot it *will* eventually crash. If I do reboot it *may* crash but only after many hours of continuous play.

233 P2
196 MBs RAM
Windows 95
All background programs turned off (I think/hope) when I'm playing.

Thanks for a great game!

Sign me up for the crash problem....

I have the game set to autosave every ten years, seems like it only crasheson dec.31/jan.1 when it's about to save.

I don't think it's related to my hardware/OS as I had NO crash problems running 1.08 (No IGC) now, with 1.09 and IGC 2.1 I have crash problems quite frequently (about every 3 hours ~10 autosaves of game time).

I'll probably go back to 1.08

For the rest of you I would really need to know if there is anything you can come to think of in terms of what happened right before the crash. Any dialog popping up? Clicking on anything special?

There where problems with some of the translated text.csv files with missing placeholders (%s, %d, %t etc) and if they have the wrong tag the game will crash.

I am getting the exit to Windows problem. There appears to be two main occasions when this occurs. I am playing through the Tutorial scenario in EU1.09. The game would exit to Windows when clicking on OK buttons in various dialogue buttons - this happened at least once on the explanation of financial summaries but also on various others. My first several attempts to play the game were not getting beyond Sept 1501 (although the date didn't seem to be a determining factor) very annoying.
On attempting to restart from saved games the game would exit to Window repeatedly as the progress bar for "Initializing Scripts" appeared. It also exited on one occasion when the "Initializing Scenario" progress bar was on the screen. However by trying repeatedly I could get it to load the game.
On one occasion I started a new game (again in the Tutorial scenario) and this time I got to 1579 (after several hours of play) however this also exited to Windows and I think it occcured when I placed the mouse cursor over the attrition icon on one of my naval fleets.
I then had several attempts to reload the autosave fail before it finally worked again - however this time it crashed after about 11 months when I was selecting the number of infantry to be produced at one of my cities.
Needless to say this is getting very annoying particularly as when it does work it seems like such a great game.

Really the tutorial should only be used whilst you get used to the interface. Things do happen in it that do not happen in the real game. It was not meant to be used as a full scenario.

Might I suggest that you play as Russia in the Grand Campaign? You will have an easy time to start with and will be introduced to the various facets of the game gradually.

Well I'll give it a go but I just tried "Age of Revolution" as England and that crashed out very early on. The game is almost unplayable (on my system at least - which I wouldn't have thought was in any way unusual) which as I said before is a shame as it looks like it could be great fun if only it didn't induce such frequent bouts of swearing !!

OK tried Grand Campaign as Russia and if anything it's even worse (either that or my patience is getting thinner) It either fails to start the scenario at all - exiting to Windows while the progress bars are on screen or else it exits after about six months when I click on something, on the last occasion the something was a unit I was moving to another province.
EU1.10 anyone ??
