Theres a connection!
I just had my first crash ever. Playing Austria in IGC. Got a better relations message with Spain (+25 relations). I pressed "History" button and was crashed back to the desktop.
Guess I will not hit that "History" button again!

I have to agree

Yes! Thank you!

I think it's the history button also. But, I think there are several other occasions when the right click menu crashes the program in a similar fashion. I'll try to remember the symptoms of the crash in the future.

Luckily for me, I always save my game every year. :D

Good luck, Patric.

Well...you can add me to the list of crash victims now. I played through an entire campaign as Turkey with only one crash (when I clicked on the HISTORY button) until the end. From 1782 to 1792 I had to play the last ten years six times to reach the end. It kept crashing randomly to desktop. I'd still be in windows and everything was working but the EU music was still playing. I did a ctrl-alt-del and EU was no longer running. I restarted EU with no problem but still kept crashing. I cold booted and it didn't fix the problem. Once I even got to the end of the game and when the game summary was supposed to come up it sent me back to the desktop again!
I finally finished it on my sixth try and started a new game as Sweden. The problem is even worse now. I can't play through the first six months without crashing. I have given up on the game until a fix is found. Too frustrating. BTW I am using the v1.09 patch and I am not using the IGC.
One other problem that may or may not be related. I had a save game from 1784 that was unusable because it started in the trade map and there was no way to get to the main map. I could switch to the diplomacy or colonizing maps but back to main always went back to the trade map. I will continue to visit the boards daily in the hope that a fix can be found but for now I will reluctantly move on to other diversions.

I realize I should have put my specs up in case there is some commonality with the other people having problems.

800MHz P3
128 Mb RAM
40 GB HD 32 GB free (Partitioned into 10/10/5/15
Geforce3 MX 32 Mb with latest drivers running in 32 bit color
MX300 Souind card with last Aureal reference drivers
Windows 98 with latest update
DirectX 8.1
EU installed on D drive with v 1.09 and no IGC
52x Panasonic CD-ROM used for playing EU
Nothing running in background except the necessities (SYSTRAY, ETC.)

I have had the same problem this weekend as described by the Count. I run a similar system as his, but with more RAM (384 mb), Win ME, P3-1G, lots of hard drive space, GeForce 2 GTS (32 mb), DX 8.1, SB Live card. I had no problems with this 1.09 GC until about 1680 or so, about when the music changed over to the miserable whine (but that may be coincidence). I don't think that it is related to the "History", as I don't click on those buttons. I have not tried to start a new game yet, and do not play the IGC (yet!). I'd like to finish with a comfortable win, or at least when I get bored.

Maybe this is an encouragement to go on to another game?
