Last night I bought CK2 from steam and I have not yet been able to start playing it. Every time I boot it up it goes to the loading screen, gets to the 'Loading Graphics...' part and then just closes to desktop with an error message.

I checked the error log and it says this '[graphicssettings.cpp:73]: Resolution height to low. Setting it to 768.' and occasionally something about not being able to find 'generic_click_04'.

Is there any way I can fix this? I've already reinstalled 3 or 4 times and tried other fixes I've found on the forums but nothing seems to be working :(

First, try solution #6 from the sticky "known issues" thread above. Also
Current Mode: 1280 x 720 (32 bit) (50Hz)
is below the game's minimum resolution of 1024x768, try upping your y axis to at least 768.

I have the exact issue, it's frustrating.
Does anyone here know how to handle this?
This is at least the third thread you've posted in, two being on the Mac version and this one being for the PC version. You can't possibly have the same "exact" problem as all those threads. How about you start your own fresh thread, with full problem and system details, and I'll help you there.

I seem to still be having the problem with my resolution far far above that is there anything I could possibly do?

Yeah I tried setting it to 1360x768 (lowest possible with my aspect ratio) but the screen was flickering and it didn't solve the problem, the same error message came up for some reason

Thanks for the help anyway, anyone know if a future patch will fix this?

Oh also when I tried solution #6 this error message comes up in the logs:

[graphicssettings.cpp:63]: Resolution width to low. Setting it to 1024.
[graphicssettings.cpp:73]: Resolution height to low. Setting it to 768.
[sound.cpp:232]: Sound generic_click_04 not found.
[sound.cpp:232]: Sound generic_click_04 not found.
[sound.cpp:232]: Sound generic_click_04 not found.
[sound.cpp:232]: Sound generic_click_04 not found.
[texturehandler.cpp:169]: Couldn't find texture file: gfx//coats_of_arms//dynasties.tga.

Does this mean I have files missing? I've reinstalled 5 times now so I ruled out a corrupted download.

Those "errors" in the last 5 lines are normal and nothing to do with your problem. The first two lines are what we expect when you try that solution, as it's deliberately been set too low.

When you've done these reinstalls, have you manually deleted the remnants Steam leaves behind, before reinstalling? To do this: uninstall the game from Steam and move any valued save games elsewhere. Manually delete the CK2 directories from under the Steam AND MyDocuments folders, now reinstall the game via Steam.

If that still fails, do it again but uninstall ALL Steam games and then the Steam client itself, again manually delete all remnants Steam leaves before, and then reinstall Steam then CK2 - this has helped one customer recently, for some reason.

You could either try everything I've been suggesting for the OP, or start your own fresh thread with full problem and system details.

Yeah I've done that for every reinstall, I'll try uninstalling every steam game (although I do have quite a lot so I hope this works!)

EDIT: Still doesn't work :( although I have freed up a lot of space on my hard drive now
