Hi guys, yesterday I felt like playing cities skylines again. The last time I had played was in December, so I was learning to use the Skyve mod, which helped me a lot to update mods. I spent a lot of time, and when I was finally going to load my game it crashed. I was looking more in detail at some mods that seemed outdated, I deactivated them or replaced them with others but the crash continues. I didn't install more assets than the ones I already had, it shouldn't be because of ram *I guess*. Here I leave the .txt with the crash, could you tell me what it is? I don't know how to read it.

PS: I don't know how to place this post in the support sub-forum, it's the first time I use the forum. I'm sorry and I would appreciate if you could move it to the correct section.

You have run out of memory.

Error occurred at 2023-08-26_085306.
D:\Steam\steamapps\common\Cities_Skylines\Cities.exe, run by Usuario.
95% memory in use.
24526 MB physical memory [1166 MB free].
53064 MB paging file [364 MB free].
134217728 MB user address space [134127737 MB free].
Read from location 00000020 caused an access violation.

It reports you are using almost 80GB of memory.

Either close all apps and don't load anything except Steam and this game.

Your only other recourse is either add more RAM, or increase your pagefile even more. Increasing page file is the cheap route for now, until you can purchase more RAM.

Also, if you use mods, make sure loading screen mod is subscribed and enabled. It will cut down on asset usage and free up around 20% of memory on average.

Also, if you are already using loading screen mod, you can go to mod settings and uncheck, "Load used Assets" this will prevent loading of assets. Luckily, the second option in loading screen mod is, "Load Assets Used", so it will still load assets that are used in your city, so it doesn't load to a bunch of missing buildings.

let us know if you have more questions.

Thank you for your response, Mark. Hmm, I find it curious that it used to load me with the same amount of mods and assets. I just reduced the amount of assets and I still get the same thing, although it seems to use less memory, or am I wrong?:

Apparently you didn't remove enough. you had over 7GB free RAM, but it still crashed on a swap, as you had only 5MB free in the page file. so page file was full still.

Bump 53064 to an even 65536 for a full 64GB swap file. That's an extra 10GB difference.

Be careful reducing assets, as you can remove too many and mess up your city, or it may crash from something important missing.

Oh, that's how they deleted my game files, unpleasant situation, you have to be careful with that.

This message is addressed to the OP of this thread.

If you have questions about your game files, please start your own thread so we can maybe help you.

First, read this post and gather all info it asks for:
https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/threads/how-to-best-report-technical-issues-and-get-help.920608/

Then, take all of that info and start a new "Report Issue" and "attach" all files to the end of the post:

Please don't take advice from someone else's thread, as you may have a similar symptom, but that doesn't mean you have the same problem and you could ruin your game files and possibly lose your saved game.
