  • Crusader Kings II
Hey guys and gals.

Recently bought CKII after seeing so many great things on it, but for the life of me I cannot get this damn game to start. I have researched and tried everything I have found: Reinstalling, compatibility settings, and steam options (one thing I cannot figure out is how to disable the intro video...no idea where that file it). My drivers are up to date, everything is certainly more than "minimum" for this game, and I cannot figure out why this thing wont work. It will open the launcher, open the game, and load everything up to Graphics, after which the game crashes and Windows tries to "find a solution to the problem."

Any suggestions at all?

Thanks!

This sounds like you'll be best having a look at the tech support forum and seeing if anyone else has had the same problem, and if their solution fixes things for you.

If not, start a new thread in there with a list of your hardware, and a dxdiag dump. Someone will then be able to advise you on what steps to take next.

"disable intro video"?

there is no intro video. it's a (long) loading (sequence of) screen(s)
I think

I'm not sure if 64/32-bit is an issue.
Try running the "validate" something options in steam, then close steam.
then run it without steam (ie. with steam closed and NOT running in the background)
