Recently i've made myself a new build: Ryzen 5 9600x, 5200mhz cl40 2x16, b650m, corsair vs650w, (reused rtx2060S and psu); everything went fine, cs2 450 frames on average, full load on everything for hours, no problem. But with ck3 it went wild, as soon as I open the game, it gets frozen, not even ctrl alt del responds, I can only restart the pc by the front panel. Need help.

game 14.x new version

every driver is up to date

win 11

I have run memory/cpu stress tests on aida64, no error showed

Right click on ck3.exe , properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullScreen optimisations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply and exit.

Then in the launcher Game Settings menu, select fullScreen display mode, Vsync off, cap refresh rate at 60.

If those don't help:

DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

IF dxdiag.txt fails to attach here, rename it to dxdiag.log , or zip it up.

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/pdx_settings.txt .

From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log , exceptions.txt

I have found no "exceptions.txt"
none of the solutions above have worked
the "system.txt" wont upload because it is empty

You have the problematic Windows 11 24H2 version, but that usually causes hangs during play, not a failure to start at all.

That is a weird-looking error log! What happens if you run a Steam Verify operation against the game?

I see you have Vic3 also - does that work okay?

Specifically: Victoria 3 does not have the problem you see in this game?

Did teh Verify find anything to fix?

Specifically, victoria 3 runs really good, hardly any stutters, let alone crashes
The verify showed some errors to be fixed, but the crash keeps happening
I've changed the rendering to vulkan, and the game runs worse but the crashes seems to be gone

If you run it again are there still issues it finds, or does it run clean now?

Please delete that error log and try the game again, and send me a new one please.

Lol, just got the same crash with vicky 3, but it took like 20h gameplay to happen once
I'll send a new ck3 error log soon; this one is from vic3 if it helps somehow;

If this game crashes on launch, but Vic3 takes 20h to crash, you'd think they were unrelated issues!

But given the presence of Windows 11 24H2 and its so-far unresolved issues, I still suspect it.

Wait this is exactly what happens to me. Ever since around roads to power, coincidentally not long after 24h2 IIRC, the game became basically unplayable and I quit every time I've tried to play since.

75% of the time it cant get past the loading screen as it starts boosting all cores on my 7950x3d to 100%, eventually causing the entire PC to ground to a halt; the cursor becoming stuttery and unresponsive, then the audio cutting out, and eventually the whole thing freezing entirely such that I need to force power it down or wait for it to bsod after like 10+ mins if ever.

On top of this the game had just become a stuttery mess in general. I began to suspect it was related to it not handling dual CCDs with the 3d cache correctly, and there does seem to be an issue with parked cores consistently unparking when hovering over selectable tiles or ui elements, but ultimately nothing could resolve it. I reinstalled windows; The os/bios/graphics/chipset drivers up to date; I've tried disabling CCD1 and SMT, as well as disabling PBO and EXPO; hell, in the span of time since this started I've swapped out GPU, Ram, and my PSU.
