Crash to desktop during loading of graphics

As the title says I launch the game, it loads up everything fine but then when it gets to loading graphics it just crashes to desktop with no error message. All of my drivers are up to date, I first tried deleting the gfx folder in the ck2 documents section, that didn't work (even tried deleting the whole ck2 documents folder). I have tried it with out the DLC activated, no luck there. I even tried a fresh install but still no luck. I have added both the game and the documents folder to my avast acceptations list. I am quite frustrated by this I was hoping to enjoy the new expansion I purchased on my one day off this week. Looks like that is a bust. What is worse is it is not even sending me an error message for me to work on like a missing dll file.

Forgot to mention. No mods active. I don't even have any mods downloaded for ck2.

What antivirus app do you use? Add ck2game.exe to its exception list/whitelist.

Avast and i have added both the steam game folder and the documents game folder to the exception list.

Yes, we are having this problem a lot with Avast. If you can disable it completely do so, then run the game once. You can probably enable it then after that.

If you can't though you may have to uninstall it entirely (the free Revo Uninstaller can help with that), run th egame, then install it again.

I did as you said and disabled avast and sure enough it worked. I would suggest sticking this for avast users. Even with the exceptions it was still crashing it.

Thank you once again for your help and speed in resolving this. Do you know if there is going to be a hotfix for this issue so i wont have to disable it everytime i play ck2?
