Last played the game 4 days ago, and it was still working fine then. Now when I try to start it again, it crashes to desktop when initializing the game. Doesn't matter if I select "Play" or "Resume" on the launcher.

Things I've tried so far, without success:
- Verifying game files in Steam
- Uninstalling and reinstalling the game.
- Ticking "Run as Administrator" on ck3.exe. This onlycauses the launcher to display a warning sign saying "Failed to launch the game.". When running ck3.exe rather than using the launcher, the crashes persist.
- Reinstalling my C++ redist (x86 and x64).
- Adding the steamapps\common\Crusader Kings III folder to my acceptance list in Malwarebites.

From the exception logged in the crashes folder:

Unhandled Exception C0000005 (EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION) at address 0x00007FF63C83568D

12 KERNEL32.DLL BaseThreadInitThunk (+ 20)
13 ntdll.dll RtlUserThreadStart (+ 33)
14 ntdll.dll RtlUserThreadStart (+ 33)

All of this on Windows 10, in Steam. System.log, DxDiag, and the exception logged on crashing have been attached. Error.log is empty. Unlike some others having trouble, my other Paradox games (Stellaris and Victoria II) still run fine.

No mention of these game crashes in that dxdiag.

Please update that nVidia driver:

And I see you are running Nahimic which has been an issue with some of our other games - does it help to exit that before you start this game?

And finally - if you disable Steam Cloud Sync for this game, does that help at all?

Thanks a lot! Turning off Steam Cloud sync fixed it! (Even before updating the driver, and I'm still running Nahimic).
Conversely, if I then turn it back on again, the crashes reoccur. So there's our culprit ;)

As I only play on one computer, running the game without Cloud Sync is not a big deal, so this fixes the issue for me. Have a nice day!
