Hi
I just encountered a bug. After studying the bug list found in this forum I think it's bug 142.

---------------- Cut n paste
142 : Type: Technical | Status: NEW | Severity: BLOCKER
In 1.03, the game crashes when loading a saved game during the game, or even when selecting it in the scenario screen. This is caused by duplicates in the selectable countries list (can be fixed by removing all countries except your own).
----------------

The part I'm interested in is of course the "can be fixed..." part. My experience with editing game files is however limited and my attempts to do so have been futile. Perhaps someone can help me?

Another one! No-one seem to be able to find any of the many threads that describe how to fix this.

Open the .eug file in any text editor. Find the "selectable=" line on the first page. Delete all country TAGS on that line except the one for the country you are playing. Save and exit. You are done.

I have this problem on my current game. Not the one where it crashes when you select the saved game. I got that one fixed. This one crashes halfway through loading the saved game. I edited out all the extra tags. Didn't help.

then it's another problem.

It could be a corrupted save game because of another problem. Try the autosave or the oldautosave.eug.

... so it's not "this problem" at all, but a different one !

Autosave and oldautosave both do the same thing. Obviously it's a corrupted savegame, but why are they all corrupted all of a sudden? IMO that makes it a bug.

Also, is there any way to find/fix the problem?

No-one else has reported this variant, AFAIK. You'll have to find the problem like I did - open up the bad game and a comparable good one in text editor, and see if you can spot the problem. If it happens part way through loading then the problem will probably not be near the beginning or end of the .eug file.

unfortunately I don't have time to check your game, so you'll have to do it yourself as Andrew said, unless another willing soul would come by and offer you to look at it...
