Crash when trying to start

Hey, just bought the game from steam and installed etc...
When i press play i get the pregame interface and when i press play on that the screen get black for a few seconds and then it crashes:

Nvm! it got fixed after two reinstalls and a few reboots -.-

I'm on vista 64. I've also been over to another thread and downloaded and repaired the C++. Still no dice.

same here, tried repairing the C++ and nothing....I am on Windows 7 64 bit...I think it has something to do with the 64 bit, as the first guy was also running Windows 7 in 64-bit as well, if we could get someone from paradox to respond that would be wonderful My Error folder in the logs under the documents is empty, nothing in there, I posted my dxdiag on here.

I also am using the steam version, but it was doing the same in the demo for me, which wasn't steam, which shows me its something different.

Those of you that use Steam, try and run the following file(given you have installed it the same place as I have):
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\crusader kings ii

Still no dice. I get about a second of music ad the mouse cursor turns into an hourglass, but then crash.

Yes, that's the file I meant.

Let's try something different:

Create a file called userdir.txt beside the .exe file(i.e. C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\crusader kings ii)

Edit the file and write something like "C:\MyCK2Dir"(without the quotes), and then save the file. Restart the game. Does it help?

For this problem you must install DirectX 9(yes, even if you have DirectX 10 installed). Try the following link: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=35
