Hi,

I suppose this should be in the tech support forum but there seems to be some problem with it since, when viewing it I can only see seven (old, sticky) threads. Therefore, I'll post this here instead.

Today, I installed EU2 and the 1.09 patch on my laptop. I started the game and everything went fine until I tried to start one of the tutorials. Then, the game crashed. I then restarted the game and tried to start a Grand Campaign game but the game crashed once more.

This is very strange since I have played EU2 on this computer before. However, at the time I was running Windows 2000. I am now running XP. Has anyone run into the same problem as me and come up with a solution?

In the bug forum, and any afaik, you can scroll down and choose "show threads from #beginning#, default it's set to "show threads from #last month#. It's just that noone posted in the tech forum last month.

As for your problem, i guess you have windows Vista or 7 and put the game in "program files" i don't know where you should put it, but certainly not there. It could also be something else. I only have pc-experience through this game.

Try renaming the AVI directory to anything else, which will stop the into videos playing.

Can you describe the nature of the crash more exactly please?

Please run DXDIAG, Save All Info, and post dxdiag.txt here (first delete everything after the Sound Devices section so it will fit).

I tried reinstalling the game but the problem is still there. Starting the game works fine and the intro videos are no problem but when I try to start a new campaign the screen goes black and after a few seconds an error message appears asking me if I want to send an error report to Microsoft.

Here is the DxDiag.txt file:

As I say, try renaming the AVI directory to stop the videos playing, the bink player can affect the video of the game. Aside from that I can only suggest checking with Dell for an updated video driver.
