Well, before I go into the save game bug, let me mention that earlier in the game due to a random event my Monarch died and a Regency took over, about 5 years after that my Regency went 'insane' for 9 months (?), but after 4 years it still had horrible skills in everything (like 1 dot in each and every skill), so I edited my save game to get Edward 20 or 30 years before normal (and I revised his stats a bit upward too because that Regency and 4 year insanity sucked =)). Anyway, just a separate bug issue. 99% sure it has nothing to do with the problem I'm having now.
Current issue (and issue I've had in the past): in the Grand Campaign now (on 2 separate occasions), I've had a game go to the year 1530-1560, and when I try to save the game it crashes. First time I decided to restart since I was still learning the game anyway, now I'm back and it's doing the same thing. Crashes while trying to save. I really like this game, but my 10-day deadline on the return is on Monday and I don't think it's worth keeping if I can't get past 50 years. :/
At any rate, I do have copies of my save games. I have a working save file from March 1535 (England), and I was able to save it again in March of 1535 as well. I have a partial save file from June of 1535 (crashed while saving), another partial from August of 1535 (crashed while saving), and another partial from May of 1536 (crashed while saving). One time I played through until January of 1537, and that time it got a fatal exception error while trying to save, but I didn't get the savefile (had to run scandisk and fix the lost fragments error).
All the savefiles cut off at the same time:
diplomaticdates = { TUR = { year = 1532 month = december day = 26 } ALD = { year = 1526 month = january day = 5 } }
wardates = { }
colonists = 0.000000
diplomats = 6.000000
merchants = 0.000000
dynamism = 0
}
Nothing else after that. Also does not make the .CFG file.
I put the save files on my Geocities account at (and Geocities is pretty crappy, I don't think it'll let you grab them if you just click on the link, you have to actually hit return on it again once you get to Geocities and it says it's not available):
www.geocities.com/axere/SAVES.ZIP
Had to zip it up because it wouldn't accept the .EUG file extensions, etc. Anyway, if someone at Paradox (or even anyone else) can download those files and tell me what's wrong or how I can fix that problem, that'd be great. If I need to send the save files to somewhere else, please let me know..
Thanks,
J
