Crashes on Load screen

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
After clicking the Play button game begins to load but never gets past the loading graphics portion before it CTD. I have no mods enabled or even download. I have already done multiple clean installs ,verification of files and they always come out good. I also tried compatibility with no result, same with checking override safety is on. Checked also turning off full screen optimization and still not working. My files are also synced with the paradox site . Help please. Ive been trying to fix this for over a year now and totally frustrated because I love this game.

Do EU4, HOI4 and Stellaris run okay on it?


Add ck2game.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.

Please attach your Documents/Paradox/CK2/settings.txt.
From your Documents/Paradox/CK2/logs/ folder, attach system.log , and any other files there over 0 bytes.

Ok I will try the exceptions first then if that doesn't work I will throw on the docs.

Ok tried the exceptions, nothing happened. I have Avast and defender but I use the Avast firewall but to make sure I tired exceptions on both and tried shutting down Avast and using Defender and vice versa. Only 1 is on at a time. I even tried with both of them off and still a CTD. Here are the Doc files. they are all greek to me. Also thank you for the assistance it is much appreciated.

Firewalls have nothing to do with these sorts of problems. Only antivirus functionality is relevant. And that is the cause of your problem as we can see in your error log:

[virtualfilesystem.cpp:711]: Could not open file: gfx/flags/flagfiles_0.tga, error: Access is denied.

Avast is preventing the game from writing these .tga files to that location. You may have to get help from Avast on how to get past that.

well now I have an answer and thank you

#Update: I co had to completely turn off Avast all ALL shields and firewall to start and sucessfully load the game. After it loaded I closed the game started Avast and it successfully loaded after the initial loading.
