Hey, the game has always run great on my MacBook Pro, but now it crashes when I press save or load. Autosave and resume or start game works fine though, I'm basically locked into ironman.

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Victoria3/pdx_settings.json .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Victoria3/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Victoria3/crashes/ folder, attach here the latest (only!) exceptions.txt

Also in Steam please click on Steam-Help-System Info, and paste everything there into a text file and attach that here.

Thank

Thank you very much, here are all the files you requested.

Edit: I disabled the mods when running it for this but I did not uninstall them, thank you.

Crashes on save are usually running low on available memory, and I think that's the case here:
[22:59:25][systemsettings.cpp:209]: RAM Total: 16384
[22:59:25][systemsettings.cpp:210]: RAM Free: 4416
[22:59:25][systemsettings.cpp:211]: Swap Total: 3072
[22:59:25][systemsettings.cpp:212]: Swap Free: 1536
16gb is the minimum memory requirement for this game, and making a save file is the highest memory use - basically making a second copy of all game data in memory then write out to disk.

I don't know offhand how to increase swap space in MacOS, but I suggest you look into that and make it at least 8gb, preferably say16gb. And unload every other app you can before starting the game.

Let me know if that helps!

Thanks for the quick reply! RAM is an easy fix cause I had a lot of tabs and things using it up but unfortunately when I tried even expanding free ram to 43GB it still produced the same result.

You only have 16gb of Ram in this system ... what did you expand to 43gb exactly? Swap space, free disk space maybe?

I just realised you are not the OP here! I was looking at their setup, not yours.

Please do a full clean re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-Vic3
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/Victoria3 AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/Victoria3 folders - In particular make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam Victoria3 or Documents Victoria3 locations, before installing again.
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.

**File Locations on Mac OS X**
The executable and DLC folder are in Users/USER/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/Victoria3/
To see it go to the Finder, hit command-shift-G (ie Go To) and type in ~/Library/ .
The user files (settings files, error logs, saved games, mods) are in /Users/USER/Documents/Paradox Interactive/Victoria3/ .

Does that change anything with the save/autosave issue?

If not are there any .dmp files or crash logs present?

@PDX_Sosanna the two exceptions files in this thread show exactly the same crash stack - does that help us determine where the problem is? FYI I can't duplicate the issue on my M4 iMac.

No news from them yet? dang
