Crashes while running the game

Hi guys. Just got the gold edition of EUR. Great game. Unfortunately, it has the mystifying habit of crashing (just stopped moving; windows reports the game as not responding) in the later part of the game. The same thing happens whatever country you play. Very annoying when it crashes in the last quarter part of the year since the autosave function only covers the start of the year. I don't think it's the system since I am running a vista 64, quad-core, 8gb, two NVIDIA 9600 videocard, computer. Has anybody encountered this? A solution would be highly appreciated. Thanks.

It's prolly the "noculture" freeze. I suggest you install the un-offical hot-fix for the time being (while we wait for an official patch ).

solution to crashes

Tried the "no-culture" fix. Didn't work. Tried disabling antivirus systems. Still didn't work. I suspected that the vista software was the problem so I ran the game on a windows xp compatibility format. Voila! No more crashes. Even at high speed. Will keep the no-culture fix anyway, just in case. I hope the solution will help other vista users out there having the same problem. Thanks again.
