BiB, I think you're missing the point.
I am not saying that EU is the only game that has problems and I'm certainly not saying that Windows is perfect.
The point is that a great many people are having crashes with EU and there should be a proper response from Paradox - either another patch, or a bit of advice on compatibility. Even a short statement such as "yes we know, sorry, we're trying to fix it" would be welcome.
Maybe they just underestimated how much importance players would attach to the warfare side of the game.

Owl, I think ur missing the point.
The point is that a great many of people are not having crahes with EU, at all.
Furthermore Paradox have, what is it, released how many patches so far ? Yes, they're really ignoring everyone
Somehow there are plenty warmongers out there who don't experience all those crashes.
What do Paradox have to do ? Send a repair man round to every house to fix everyone's PC ?

it must be love

BiB, your loyalty is deeply touching but spare me the sarcasm.

I already said what I thought Paradox could do but let me rephrase:
acknowledge that it's a bit annoying for players,
say they are working on it (if they are),
offer ideas on how to get around it,
provide information on which systems or configurations seem to be particularly susceptible .... any of those.
That's the sort of thing you expect from any business when there's a problem connected with their products, even if they don't think it's their fault.

Loyalty ? I just state facts :D Sarcasm ? I can't help it it's so easy to counter, might as well have fun at it while doing so :D

I want the president of Coluymbia to acknowledge that it is a bit of a pain in the arse that PCs tend to crash at times. And he prolly would, seeing after all, PCs that crash aren't very popular with anyone. I'm xure Paradox will soon issue a statement they love it that people's PCs crash  PCs crash. It sucks. Get over it :D

I'll say it again. Paradox have released over a dozen of patches so far. There's a support forum with the makers themselves replying there (maybe try it if u have trouble, why u are posting about this in FAQ, I do not know). Why on earth do u think they aren't supportive or the like ? They're way better than any other firm I know and often get bothered with problems that aren't even real EU related and handle those too. Paradox have done exactly what u ask. And more. Above and beyond the call of duty IMO. Then again there's no pleasing some people. But don't worry, I'm xure the Paradox housecall repair man will be there soon.

Given the many different perms of OSs/CPUs/Graphics cards etc out there it is extremely difficult for any soxware house to provide a product that will work with every system.
Added to the above is the fact that the PCs may have been "mucked about" with by the owners and/or running progs in the background that provide conflict.
I remember one post in another forum: the poster complained of random crashes. After a long debate, and much head scratching by the Developers, he finally said that, "by the way I play this whilst connected to the internet and with my Newsgroups and E-Mails being updated every 5 minutes".
It could be that the game just will not run on your system. Paradox have no way of knowing that when they release the game. They have it tested on a wide variety of machines.
I always buy my games from a "return if not satisfied" shop. That way I get 10 days to test it.
I know this doesnt help you in any way but I just wanted to put the issue in a bit of perspective.
Myself - I will be happier when the x-box is released. At least all games will work with that (hopefully) and will save me a fortune in upgrading PCs to play the latest games. Then I can get back to playing with music on this system.
Have you tried e-mailing the support line with your system specs etc?

thanks, Uglyduck. Glad to know there are one or two adults out there.
I think I've got the problem down to manageable proportions now by slowing down game speed whenever I'm at war, and closing down all those odd little self-starting programmes that run in the background and clutter up the system.

As I have stated in another thread running the game from the Start/Program group and selecting the "No Music" icon will save your computer loading the music files. That way it has even less to manage.
Support might have been interested in your save game that gave the repeatable crash involving 5 armies.

scary

Not totally on the same point but I just crashed my laptop at work whilst browsing the "Wish List" forum.
Had visions of two guys in suits and shades materialising behind me a la Matrix but OK so f------------------
