Crashing during savegames

I have rarely had any crashing problems with CK, especially once I put in the avi_back, 16 bit color settings, etc. Unfortunately in my current game it has started crashing when I save the game, which creates a corrupt and unusable save game. This has happened the last three times I save in my current game. I'm not sure if it is having a problem with something in the particular year or settings I'm playing on, as I've never had this problem in several other games.

This is basically ruining any chance of playing my current dynasty further, is there anything I can do?

I did a few tests. I can go back to saves of other dynasties and save normally, but in this dynasty, when I load up either of the last two saves I have, the game drops to desktop everytime I save the game. Argh!

how big are the save files that you are left with?

A good savegame from May 1217 consists of two files, the main .EUG one is 13,532 KB and the .EUG.CFG one is 1 KB. For the bad savegames from July 1217 for example the .EUG is 12,012 KB and there is no .EUG.CFG.

I opened up the save game to see where it ended, it appears to stop in the long list of "title" entries and doesn't even save any of the "country" information"

Thanks! I noticed that the title TEUT was next in my failed save, as Solmyr pointed out in that thread.
