I haven't played since 2022 and when I now do I have the issue that frequently on Game Initialization the game freezes my whole computer and then either crashes (and the crash reports cannot be sent, just gives error) or blue screens after ~10 minutes. I cannot tab out of the game during initizialisation phase or click something, then it crashes immediately.
The bluescreen is Driver_Power_State_Failure ntoskrnl.exe (0x0000009F). The crashes in logs are always "Unhandled Exception C0000005 (EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION)".
I have no issue with any other games or the system and my memory was tested 24 hours stable in memtest86+ as part of the computer setup. I use the computer as a workstation and have no stability issues in regard to that either.
Additionally I have the issue that once I am in the game, loading of savegames takes progressively longer (e.g. first load 30 seconds, loading after 2 hours of playing taking 10 minutes) and it can crash with the same error, but the bluescreen doesn't happen.
I have tried to disable the fullscreen optimizations as noted in other threads and I have applied the registry fix mentioned in a different thread without success.
I have tried a full reinstall with removal of all files including AppData and I have tried starting .exe without Steam as well.
I have also tried starting the game with Vulkan, but that doesn't work for me as the main menu never appears. It feels notably quicker, but the Game initizalization screen always stays present even when the main menu is obviously loaded (I can notice by moving my mouse on the game intialization screen and hearing that it makes the hover main menu button sounds at the respective positions, e.g. the main menu is loaded behind the screen, but not visible).
When I played in 2022 I didn't have these issues, neither modded nor unmodded. I have the issues on both, but do not play vanilla aside from testing.
I guess this is due to 24H2? How can this be fixed or when will a fix be released? It's saddening to have to reboot the PC multiple times until I get lucky enough to get into the game, but then needing to avoid any loading of savegames due to the load issues with them.
Note: When I manage it into the game I am fine for hours on end - no crashes, no freezes, no weird behaviour. Solely on game initizialitation and save game loading I have problems. (Unfortunately I tend to be a bit of a savescummer ...)
