Crashing to Desktop

Hi guys, I'm new. Sorry if this has been posted before.

After some time of playing, the game starts to bog down. I guess this is normal as I garner more provinces, marry family members and make more for the computer to compute (heh) in general.

The game crashes, though, every time I play it. I'm not too good at saving, so it's a problem. Not that I would accept CTDs just because of proper saving. I don't know why it crashes, my computer is fit and i lack no memory.

Okay let's try some standard things.
1) Make sure you have the latest patch for the game.
2) Rename the AVI folder to AVI_back
3) Set the color depth to 16BIT
4) Turn off everything in the background like E-mail/ICQ/Messenger, Virus protection and everything in the system tray beside the clock.
5) Run a Virus check and a Adware/Spybot checker
6) Update your Windows, update your Video card drivers and audio card drivers. Then repeat steps 1-4.

Also check out jpd's FAQ on slow downs and his one on crashes, they are in the Victoria support forums, but evrything in them applies to CK as well.
