"AVI/Publisher.bik does not match the data in your setup .cab file. Contact your software vendor"

What????

This worked fine yesterday.

I tried to install a mod, didn't work, so I went to the autoplay, Uninstall->Repair. The game refused to start up again, so I chose Uninstall->Remove. Then Install. And that's when I got the error.

How can I make a clean install?

Most likely the registry key did not delete

See this thread : http://www.europa-universalis.com/forum/showthread.php?t=327042

I don't know if that's the case, because if it had detected the key it wouldn't have allowed me to reinstall,

but I did manage to finish the install just by choosing 'ignore', but I'm getting some weird effects, like the neville cheat not working and the scenarios not starting up (errors in the event files) after the patch install.

But I'll try a clean install, thanks for the link

EDIT

nope, still the same error. I uninstalled, then deleted what was left of the folder, the whole paradox folder in the registry.... chose Install and the same error came up. Sure I can still start up the game but I'm pretty sure it will have some side effects.

that didn't work, I did what the guide suggested, which was basically (Just to make sure I didn't do anything wrong)

Uninstall

Delete the game directory

Delete the registry keys

Delete the Installshield files related to the game

Install

And still the same. I think that guide is for when InstallShield won't let you install the game thinking you never uninstalled it before because you deleted it manually and left pieces of it around. Well, I can uninstall and install just fine, except for this error. If I ignore it, the game still installs, but with some side effects, like the cheat neville not working, and my stockpiles being re set to 20 every couple of days, and the game refusing to load savegames/scenarios if a patch is installed.

I've taken a screenshot, hopefully it helps?

That's is very odd, the file which is corrupt is a bink video file, so i don't really get why it would mess up your game.

I thought about that too, I know it's strange but I'm 100% sure the neville cheat doesn't work. I'll get a screenshot of the console saying Unrecognized command soon,

Is your CD dirty or have any scratches?

Can you copy your CD to the harddrive and install it from there?

No, it looks the same as 2 days ago when it worked just fine, I don't know what could have changed in my computer since then. I'm guessing there's some sort of security software that won't let the game be installed in a comp that has a DVD burner or something like that? (like Ubisoft)

I've been googling around, this problems happens with several games from what I can see, I think I have to change some settings in my BIOS or something similar. Does anyone know which ones?
