I couldn't find this in the logged bugs forum, so I'm posting it here.
I was playing as Greece recently, and the UK sent me an expeditionary force consisting of two divisions. I wanted to split up the expeditionary corps so that I could send each division a different direction. I clicked on the "Create New Unit" button, and I had two Corps, each consisting of one division.
The problem, however, was that one of those divisions was now a Greek division. The other division, however, still remained a UK expeditionary force division after the split.
My new former-UK Greek division had a Greek flag, no longer had a "Return Control to Owner" button, and was now culturally Greek. It still had the UK equipment and organization though, because it was much better in terms of organization and morale than my built-from-scratch Greek units. When the war ended, I still kept the division, and used it until the end of the game.
This is pretty much a way to get free divisions from expeditionary forces, and if you want to split up an expeditionary corps, there is no way to avoid this bug.
