I'd like to start a game as the Duchy of Lithuania, which does not exist in the beginning of the 1066 scenario. Lets say I use the chiefdom of Aukshyts as my starting point; how do I get the shield of Aukshyts/Lithuania to appear on my startup menu so I can select it. I would also like to start this new duchy out as orthodox instead of pagan as it is written into the game.
Help anyone?

Lithuania exists in the 1066 scenario as a pagan kingdom, at least in DV. It is not selectable because it is pagan. Here is a simple way to make it playable:

  1. Start a 1066 game as an arbitrary country. Pause. Remember the name of the pagan ruler of the country you want to change ("Antanas" in our case). Save.
  2. Open the saved game in a text editor and search for the character. Verify that the tag fits to his country ("LITT") so that you do not change someone else. Change his religion to "orthodox".
  3. Restart from the saved game. You'll note that the available selection of countries is not yet updated. Save again.
  4. Reload. Lithuania is now playable as an orthodox realm.

Probably someone will now point out what horrible thing will happen later on due to the hack, but that seemed to work so far. :)

Since the OP is going to change the Ruler's Religion via the Save Game file, he might as well go ahead and change the individual provinces from Pagan to orthodox too. In addition, do the Ruler's family and any Courtiers already spawned.

I wouldn't do any vassals, as they are basically unimportant in the scheme of things and will convert sooner or later, but it gets messy if your own court (and your demesne province(s)) is a different religion from the ruler.
