How would CK model the growth of merchant republic? Like, Venice, Genoa, and Hansa to name few. That is off topic so I am starting a new thread.

Anyway, is it possible to annex Republics? And make it into duchy, earldom, or even personal terrority?

Which may be the hard part - getting the claim.:)

That would depend on how much control you can get over the pope. :)

Since I derailed us I will try to put this thread back on the tracks.

I agrea it should not be too easy, to get the "CB"

From the information we have gotten that seems to be the issue yes. Except for extreme circumstances it seems that dynastic claims is the way to get conquests legitimized. And those require some serious long time planning.

Breeding, planning whatever. You also a great deal of luck so they don´t start to produce to much offspring as that tend to create to many other competitors.

Well you 400 years, considering the amount of royal marriages in EU2 you can pull off you should have weak claims to half of Europe :D

But in EU2 you were merely marrying off nameless, faceless relatives.

Now you are marrying off definite people, even the monarch. There are only so many people. And just marrying isn't enough - you then have to inherit the right to rule that province. It's all pretty difficult stuff.

That´s what I ment. Marriages will not be as simple this turn around I suspect. And it will require a great deal of luck. Perhaps wars between a potential target and others could be faciliated to thin out the herd a bit.:)

Or like England's Henry V - win a wife in a war and inherit the crown of France. Well, you gotta live long enough to collect on it though.;)

Truth!;) So, the game's inherit of the terrorities would be same as Poland-Lithuania? I mean both of the families married on 1369, yet fully united only in 1560's. So would the game be like that (if you have more than one child)?

Hmm, that would be interesting. Probably if a marriage like that did occur then the direct lands of the two parties involved would unite but the vassals might not all like it and may revolt. Actually, no telling what would happen. Maybe the entire countries would unite under one king.

200 years!! I´m curious if delays like that will pen out for the game. I was thinking of more like 2-3 generations.
