Thought a thread like this could be usfull, Like a FAQ on creating characters/dynasties etc.

1)If I want to create a new Dynasty, say..."of Paradox" I go into the dynasties txt file in the DB folder and add it with a new ID, but what ID's are used by dynasties?

2)Now this dynasty needs to be in the game, but can 2 dynasties have the same "home" province(one might not be in controll, I have seen 2 dynasties in Novgorod, "of Novgorod" and another with the rulers family name).

3)Say you take a province from a multiprovince dukedom and give it as a starting province to "of Paradox" do you have to remove that province from the dukedoms owned provinces, the dukedoms dynasty ownings etc?

4)Now we create count "Bob of paradox", do Bob have to have a father in the start? I have seen characters missing their mothers so I guess they don't have to have a father.

5)Now when Bob is around, he'll need courtiers and children.
Will the courtiers be created automatically in the start or?
The childrens, there is a line something like this "Father = [Character ID]" were you put the fathers ID, but what about mother? "mother = {Character ID]" ?
And what decideds who's first in succession, the birth year? And if both children have the same, who will be first in line?

6)The new dynasty "Paradox" is now created, a ruler to start with, some kids and some courtiers.
But how do you do to make Paradox a vassal of say...the king of France? Add it to "vassal of =" line?

There are surely more questions, but these can be a start.
Those who know, try to answer and we can compile it into a helpful FAQ, those with questions post them also.

You can definitely have characters without parents. Those strange men in their 30's have no parents. Here is the first character in the save file:

Code:
character = {
    id = { type = 10 id = 98 }
    dyn = 1
    tag = ENGL
    name = "Edgar"
    date = "09440001"
    gender = male
    religion = catholic
    culture = "saxon"
    deathdate = "09750001"
    attributes = {
        martial = 2.000
        diplomacy = 10.000
        intrigue = 10.000
        stewardship = 8.000
        health = 7.000
        fertility = 5.000
        }
    traits = {
        kinslayer = yes
        heretic = yes
        illness = yes
        leper = yes
        hunchback = yes
        clubfooted = yes
        intestinal_worm = yes
        lisp = yes
        stutter = yes
        harelip = yes
        bastard = yes
        grey_eminence = yes
        war_invalid = yes
        excommunicated = yes
        }
    dna = "38304760410973"
    }

Notice he has no parents.

:)

What, you mean no harelipped, misshappen, leprous, stuttering, unmarried heretic would love somebody like that?

Hmmm, wonder who he killed to get the kinslayer trait? Maybe at one time he did have parents. :eek:

Where are the dynasties defined? Which file?

Presumably it should be easy to just create a new ID number and have a new dynasty for use. One of these days I'd like to define the "BarristerBoy" dynasty...
