I have a couple question about props and the asset editor:

  • when creating props is it possible to choose where they are placed or are we forced to have them under the park benches tab?
  • is it possible to create a new tab to hold props (I am building a pack and would like all my props in the same place)?
  • when we place a prop on an asset it kills the grass and surrounds itself with a brownish floor covering, can we stop this?
  • is it possible to create a ground covering prop, like the ones that ship with the game?

1. Usually they are locked to the category, but there is a mod for changing the category.
2. Not so easy. It would require some modding skill. Also you have to consider incompabilities with other mods then.
3. Don't know exactly, but I guess with modding tools it is possible.
4. same as 3.

1. Can be done with ModTools. I have a list of all the prop categories here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B-FCDGQzh1FZZ2Y3T2kxTGFBWEk
Make sure you change the right category. There's one for in game, one for map editor and one for asset editor. I suggest setting all 3 to the same.

2. I believe if you type in a new category name it creates it (with some error text too) - it doesn't get an icon and I'm not sure if it can cause issues later on.

3. Very easy and doable in the game without mods. In the properties on the right you can uncheck "Create ruining" and it won't create those spots anymore.

4. Yes, they are called decals. I don't have experience with making one myself, but I suggest checking out this thread: http://community.simtropolis.com/fo...teresting-prop-shader-tricks/#comment-1595988
