Hey everyone - I'm trying to make a user-defined country, but all the guides I've seen mention changing the Uxx information in world_names.csv; there's only one problem, as far as I can tell: there is no Uxx field in that file. So given that that's the first step listed on the guides I've seen, what am I supposed to do? Anyone who's created a user-defined country, if you could chime in with how it was done, I'd really appreciate it.

Ah - thank you Amallric, looks like it was hiding in doomsdaytext.csv. Really appreciate your help! I never would have thought to look in a different file in the same folder - it hasn't been my experience in modding this game that that usually helps at all. So, again, thank you!

Alright, so it looks like I've managed to get everything working - almost. I'm having trouble with the flag and shield pictures - I read in a different thread that the dimensions on the flag were supposed to be 64x93 pixels, but I go to place it in the flag folder, and what's in there is most certainly NOT 64x93. So my question to the AoD forum gods is this - what do I do to get my flag right? Looking at the other flags already in the folder, I don't see any way I could match my flag to each of them. Shields seem a bit easier, but even then, what shades of brightness do I use on each component? Kinda lost/frustrated with this, if anyone could help I'd appreciate it.

Right, well, I've managed to work around the flag/shield problem by using a flag/shield combo from an old HoI2 thread on this forum - but now I've run into another problem, this time leaders. I've managed to get all my ministers working correctly, and I had hoped the same manner in which I accomplished that would be the same manner in which I could get leaders working, but unfortunately my process from ministers (I'm making a sort-of-Scandinavia, and so I took the minister files from DEN, SWE, NOR, FIN, and ICL and copied them into the db\ministers\ministers_U01.csv file I made and then change the IDs to 99999 through about 99500 or so. But the same process does not, unfortunately, work with leaders - I think my main problem is getting AoD to detect that I have a leaders file; I can't think of anywhere to input (as one would with the scenario selector or event process) my country's tag and where its leaders are located. So I guess my question is this - how do I get leaders to activate for a user-defined nation?

As a temporary solution I would suggest trying to add them to the file of some other nation. The question is interesting though and I don't have an answer.

I came up with a (temporary) solution, which is to copy the db\leaders\scandinavia.csv file, paste a duplicate, and then edit the contents, and everywhere it says SCA, change it U01. That is working, and that's a fine temporary solution, and I think I now know how to make it work proper (it would seem not to matter what the file is called, only that the leaders include the user-defined tag), but I don't know which leader IDs are free, which means for now I've had to basically dissolve Scandinavia to play as my country (which in this particular case is fine, the two can't coexist, but for other people I can see this being a problem). If anyone could tell me what the free ID range is for leaders (and ministers, at that - I'm currently using a trial-and-error method that I'm not particularly happy with), I'd appreciate it.

That would seem to be the case; the leaders file I'm using for my u01 is db\leaders\Nordic_Union_leaders.csv, and the game reads it just fine as long as the leaders themselves are formatted thusly:

Albertsen;1000000;U01;1938;1990;1990;1990;3;3;2;0;0;5;0;L9500;1938;1960;x

Likewise, I could go into the ENG file and change ENG to U01 and have the leader for that line.
