Cross-game account issue [Linux]

Good evening everyone.

I'm not sure if this is the proper forum to post this (so feel free to move it if needed) but... It seems that all my paradox games (at least, the 3 I tested) suddenly have issues preventing connection to my account. For example, the Victoria III in-game login return "Unknown error". But if I type an incorrect password, it (correctly) return "The email and password that you enter don't match".

It's a bit annoying as I cannot play multi. :/

For what it's worth, I'm playing on Linux (Kubuntu 22.04 ) with the native versions, and I have tried Victoria III, Stellaris and Crusader King III.

Can you log in within our launcher before getting into the game? That's all that should. be necessary.

Somehow, the launchers have no issue connecting to my account it seems (account name is properly displayed).

Not sure if this is relevant or not, but I noticed this bug yesterday (Thursday 2023-03-16, around 21:00 CET) after a Steam update. The Steam client patchnotes mention "Fixed a regression in ISteamHTTP talking to servers with ALPN TLS extensions but no HTTP/2 support". That being said, I had another update of the Steam client this morning, but the bug is still here. :/

Okay, so an update.

I managed to get around the issue by enabling my VPN. It is not ideal (bandwidth down, latency up, etc...), but for now, it should work. The launcher(s) manifest their disapproval by sending the warning "A launcher update has failed." at the start, but the games itself find my account immediately.

That being said, I'm rather curious about WHY it happens. If you have any test I could run to help understand, I would be grateful.

That can only mean a firewall somewhere is getting in the way. Could be in Linux, your internet router/modem, or ISP.
