I've heard you have to occupy the target province between sixth months and two years...I've held Jeruslam 3 years, 4 months, and nothing...I'm at peace and hold the title Duke of Jerusalem.

Crusades end by event, conquer more land around the crusade-target and the chances of the Crusade to end increase.

Do we know what actually counts as "nearby land"? Because I went on a crusade (for Jerusalem) recently where some crusaders ended up with most of Syria and others ended up all over in Egypt/Sinai. Does that count, or is it just provinces in the Kingdom of Jerusalem.

IIRC the provinces bordering the target province are most important.

These provinces count for lowering the MTTH

Acre
Jaffa
Hebron
Antiochea
Rhodes
Limissol
Famagusta
Ascalon
Beersheb
Kerak
Amman
Irid
Tiberias
Monreal

Of course you don't have to conqeur them all.

What I usually do when a crusade is called against f.e. Jerusalem is conquer, Jerusalem and another province around to be able to create the duchy of Jerusalem. Then I create a bishopric in Jerusalem and make this an Archbishop. This usually gives me about 1,200 piety and then I just forget about the Crusade and let the archbishop fight for himself.

Hmm, well, I conquered Acre, Jaffa, Hebron and Beersheb, and it ended eventually. I have a new Crusade now, for Antioch, and I just wanted to clarify that Antioch is the province of "Antiocheia", correct?

Just an interesting tidbit, a some of the streets in my neighbourhood are actually named after "crusade" hotspots - there's my street turns of Antioch, and there's an Acre boulevard nearby.
