I recently bought Crusader Kings 3 thru the Microsoft Store. Whenever I try to start the game this message appears. I checked my Paradox folder my other game folders are there but not Crusader Kings 3. I tried to reinstall the game but it didn't fix anything.

Do you have access to your exe file? I don't get any kinds of errors but it either won't start or crash after saving. I can't change ownership of the exe file and think that's the problem.

I think you'll find that is the case with every game and app in the WindowsApps folder, not just CK3. You really have to jump through hoops in Windows to get access to it, even as an Admin user.

This is the second case I've seen of that error with the MS store edition. Googling that error I see many cases of it with various games going back years, all in the MS store versions. There's a list of suggestions from MS here:

The first one - logging out of the MS store app then back in again - has definitely helped in some cases on some other games.

Let us know what happens. Good luck!

Make that the third case, I've tried EVERYTHING to no avail... please help me somehow because this is actually just depressing at this point, that I've wasted 10 hours trying to fix this ;(

There are limits how much we can help with an MS Store issue like that. Especially one we can't reproduce.

Do you have a support relationship with MS? If so it would be brilliant if you could get their help on that error.

I assumed that would be the case since its MS doing the game pass. However, I've posted a thread on their community website with no response. The issue seemed to fix itself once I downloaded the latest drivers for some reason, here's to hoping that it keeps on working then! I found the fix odd because there was no inclination that it was a graphical issue, otherwise I would have done that much sooner :)

Do you have the Xbox beta app installed? this is required in order for the game to run. This happened with Wasteland3. People got the game pass, downloaded the game directly from the MS store, then the game failed to launch
