Who said anything about leading our horses? It`s the Turkish cavalry silly, we ride in circles and shoot arrows while the "Frenk"s wither away ;)

You must be thinking of the People's Crusade.:p ;) :D

I just want to be Kilic Arslan really... cant wait to work with the code ;)
That is how you spell it in Turkish? We say Kilij, I belive. How do you pronounce it anyway?

Also, where is the fun in that? I still think that Romanus was one drop of water away from Kilij becoming Demercu Arslan...

We actually spell it as "Kýlýç Arslan" just not sure if those letters would show up on everyone`s PC :) Literally means "sword lion" by the way. Not too sure about the 11th century spellings, though I suspect it would be "Kýlýnç" instead.

As for the fun factor... For starters, I`m Turkish, and what could be more fun to fight the infidel barbarians from Western Europe, conniving Byzantines and the troublesome Arabs to the south at the same time? ;)

Which bronze horses???

Those that the Vennetians plundered from the taken Constantinople and then carried to Venice to display on one of their palaces. And they are still there.

I for one would like to see some AI driven Yihads like the two fanatic muslim invasions of Iberia by the Almoravids and the Almohads. Something you as a Christian Kingdom will be heavily engaged for it to contain and not spill over. Perhaps even calling your own Crussade against them.

But you know that it won`t ;)

Well. I'm hoping since the most prominent factions won't be playable, they'll have more room to cut corners and make the muslims more...efficient. I don't personally enjoy games, unless I can get defeated. I don't even care if the AI cheats a little.

I'll be sorely dissapointed if it plays like the Mongol invasion in TW.

Not a palace. They're displayed on the church of St Marcus. Look above the entrance, and you'll see them.

What I was saying was that you could convert Arslan, then play as a group of Christian Turks, hence the Christian name Demercu. I know you are Turkish, I thought that that would be the better option than slaying your cultural ancestors.

Must have been tired then..got what you`re saying now. In fact, somewhere on CK forums there`s a post I wrote about a possibility of Nestorian Turkish invasion of Asia Minor.

Though, I suspect Turks will be in the nomadic group of cultures and won`t be playable whether they are Christian or Muslim... unless you can edit the culture itself. Just a hunch :)

edit: There`s a fascinating new book that was just published in Turkey, "Hristiyan Turanlilar" (Christian Turanians) which traces the history of Christian Turks from early Nestorian Turkic peoples of Central Asia to Cumans in medieval times and modern-day Gagauz of Moldavia.

I just had a thought on this....

Depending on what exactly can be edited in the game, it might be possible to create a new dynasty - perhaps Nestorian Turkish - in the lands to the east of the Byzantine Empire, rather than editing the existing Turks to be playable. That way it wouldn't be in the nomadic or Muslim groups that aren't playable....

tuna, sounds interesting. Hopefully Ill start Turkish lessons soon and be able to understand a fith of it when I go over there this Spring (I postponed it, read about the lack of fun availible there in winter).

tuna, the Turks played an important part in the campaign against the Sassanians, right? What where the odds they could have converted to Nicean or Arian Christanity before Islam? Do you think they would have ended like the Jewish Tartars or survived?
Anyway, interesting mod in the works.....

That`s correct, actually several envoys from Constantinople visited Western Gok-Turk Kaganate to faciliate diplomatic ties and coordinate attacks on Sassanid Persia.

At this time, however, Byzantine Empire was not terribly interested in missionary activity abroad. The loss of Syria, Palestine and Egypt to Arabs changed all that a century and a half later...

Ironically, most of the Christian Turks you hear about in 6th and 7th century Central Asia were converted by Nestorian missionaries, who had been forced to exile by the Patriarchate :)

Sounds like a good solution to me :)

As a matter of fact those are replicas ...

The true original horses are kept inside the church to avoid keeping on deteriorating from the weather....

but YES, those were the horses I was talking about!;)
