You can bypass the launcher by following these instructions:

Download the attached cities.bat.zip file
Extract cities.bbat from it
Place the .bat file in your game's Steam folder (In the same place as your cities.exe)
Right click the game in your Steam library
Go to properties
Select Launch Options
Copy and Paste cities.bat %command% into the input box
X out of that screen
Run the game

Sorry for that problem!

Followed instructions. New error appeared. "Failure - Failed to start process for Cities: Skylines : "The operation completed successfully." (0x0)" Then "cities.bat" folder opens. are we missing a command in the input box line? maybe we need to point to the "cities" batch file?

Never mind... I opened it via Cities.exe... it works that way but not through steam. seems to be working but will future updates be loaded via steam or will we need to do this again when a new version goes live?

I'm afraid that means we didn't do it right. I've had people just rename the cities.bat.zip file to cities.bat, rather than actually extracting it from it .. ?

That was part of my instructions !

Copy and Paste cities.bat %command% into the input box

I'm cool with either just planning for the future.

The core problem is a bug in the launcher when used with this game. The launcher devs have not been able to duplicate it so it is unfixed. No game update via Steam or anywhere else can possibly fix this, since it is not a game problem as such.

The technique I gave you will work around that problem if properly applied, we must have missed a step or got one wrong. Please go through it again carefully!
