Hello,
I am running CKII with the CK2+ mod.
Everytime I play the game crashes at a certain date - after some research I learnt that people have got round this bug by editing the save file to the day after the crash. However in my game, it seems to just choose a new date to crash on and it is becoming more and more frequent.

Hope somebody can help?

Nick

We would need to know a certain things, as suggested in the bug thread. Which version of the mod are you using? Did you start the game during a previous version? What is your checksum, and do you have any mods or have you altered the files in any way? After that, as Zeress mentioned, an uploaded save for us to examine would be helpful -- we can't divine what the cause of your issue might be simply from "it crashes".

Hi Guys,
Sorry - new to this forum.
I'm not sure if this is all the details but my Checksum is LNEI
And the number next to it is 2.3.4
I'm pretty sure i'm on the latest patches but I'm unsure how to check.
I haven't altered anything else other than using console commands like cash, prestige, piety and kill (very bad form of me I know. I am also running it in windowed mode.

I didn't start the game during a previous version no.

I can upload a game save if you that would help.

Thanks guys.

Nick

I would try first running it not in windowed mode, and see if that's the difference. If not, then yes -- upload the save to the link in the bug thread, and let us know what we should be looking for (the specific date that it crashes on every reload, for instance).

It crashes on the 10 September 1144. Anything else?

Nope. I've narrowed down the problem, which is that a Lord Mayor Adam of Atbara is trying to create a steward.

Problem is, he has "noculture" for a culture -- in addition to a number of other folks down in the Abyssinia area, including a Count of c_zeila, which is a county that is present in vanilla but not in our mod. The last time this happened, it turned out the player had loaded up a vanilla save with the mod. Is that what you did?

Not to my recollection but it's entirely possible!
Is there anything I can do to attempt to repair the situation?

Thanks for the help!

You don't remember if you started that game in vanilla, or with another mod? That's too bad... like I said, the last time we looked into this that was the result, and there's really no other way for those particular oddities and ruler titles to work their way into the mod of which I'm aware. Unless I know for certain one way or another, this isn't something I can attempt to fix (I could put a check for "noculture" in every event/decision which spawns a character, but there are a lot, and unless this is something that can happen in the course of the regular mod functioning on it's own, I'm not going to do it.)

Insofar as repairing it? If you know how to edit a save, you could track down those "noculture" characters and give them a proper culture, I guess.

I tell you what it could be - something I hadn't thought of til now. I'm pretty sure I used to have the bloodlines and wars of the roses bloodlines mods enabled with it, but after the first crash I think i turned them off. Is that something that could cause this situation?

If not I will attempt to give the people cultures!
Thanks.

Just a side note - I changed all the cultures to nocultures and it worked for a small while until the next year and it has now done it again. This autosave has also got NEW people with noculture in it! Thought I'd mention in case that's helpful!

Yes. You either have characters which have been spawning "noculture" characters for a while, have some "noculture" provinces, or some leftover files from the mods you enabled -- which is behind this for certain.

Honestly, different mods are not things you can throw together without any idea whether they're compatible, and "turning them off" does not remove their effects from the savegame. You take your game into your own hands when you do something like that, as you aren't actually playing the mod we put out. It is a waste of my time to hunt down issues of this nature -- which, I'll add, I just spent over an hour doing.

I apologise for 'wasting your time' I did not mean to cause a problem. I was simply hoping you could help or explain the situation to me which you have done. To be honest when I first loaded up your mod I'd entirely forgotten I had those mods installed.

I appreciate your help and time but I would just like to mention that the tone of your last message hasn't made me feel the greatest! I thought I would get some friendly advice and maybe help you out if there was a bug.

Again I apologise.

If I come across as snappish, it's because we get a lot of bug reports which eventually -- usually after a great deal of interrogation or checking -- boil down to "I installed another mod", "I changed the files", or "I'm using a vanilla save"...which, despite them being very basic no-no's for using mods, they never think to mention up front when they report a bug, even though they expect us to deal with their problem because they happen to be using our mod.

Even so, I should keep in mind that not everyone knows this. So I'm sorry if I tore your head off.
