CTD - Often when choosing technology

Hi,

I have frequent CTD when playing the game usually happens after roughly 30-60 min most often from what I can recall when accessing the technology tab, but basically while using any other ledger/menu as well. Other paradox games work fine, EU4, HOI4.

I have no mods installed with this crash logs, or at least not enabled. Please let me know if there is something I have forgotten to include. Thank you!

I don't see one of the known causes of this issue in those files.

DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.
IF dxdiag.txt fails to attach here, rename it to dxdiag.log , or zip it up.

Please report the temperatures of your CPU and video (GPU)
1/ before starting the game up and
2/ after say 30 minutes' play.
If your PC's vendor has given you no way of reading temperatures, install
SPEEDFAN http://www.almico.com/sfdownload.php

With errors like this, I'd recommend updating/reinstalling the GPU driver + lowering the graphical settings.
EU4 and HoI4 are 10 year old games running on an older engine, so naturally they are not as demanding to run as Victoria 3 and Crusader Kings 3 are.

Thank you for your reply! When the game launched I could play the game for hours though, this has only been an issue on later patches. I have overclocked the GPU in between this. Can that be the cause of the issue? Other games work fine with the overclock. But I generally do not play very modern games, or demanding games, I think Victoria 3 is the most modern game i own.

It is absolutely worth trying! Let us know if it helps please.

Also a new Nvidia driver came out yesterday, please apply that. THEN if GeForce Experience or the Nvidia app start running, exit them before trying the game.

Hi again AndrewT,

I have now tried the game again after removing the GPU overclocking. I have also lowered the graphics settings somewhat. I have updated the nvidia drivers and made sure that the app is not running while launching the game. However, I haven't had issues before—not since launch—and I have over 450 hours in the game. Sure, the game has never run butter smooth, but I haven’t experienced crashes like this before.

I have included the DxDiag below, but from what I could tell nothing seemed to be wrong. What else can I try?

I am using a RAID setup, so my c disk is made up of two physicially seperated units, and have Intel Rapid Storage Technology installed. Could that be causing issues? - I cant remember when i actually made this setup RAID/overclocking but it was definently after the game launched.

p.s the new files is from my most resent game, where it crashed after 4-5 min without me even unpausing the game.

Hi again, below is to the left at the start and the right one after 11 minutes of gameplay when a chrash happend. I ran the entire test at speed 5.
The chrashes seem to happen especially often when im in the political tab and picking a institution or in the technology tab and picking a new technology.

I ran it with Nvidia Geforce-version 572.70

I tried reinstalling the Nvidia drivers again, but instead of using the geforce app I followed this guide "How to do a PROPER Full Wipe and Install of an NVIDIA GPU Driver - Windows 10, Safe Mode, and DDU" for a more thorough NVIDIA driver reinstall, as recommended by the youtuber. After doing that I was able to play for about 90 minutes without a single crash. I'm cautiously optimistic that this has resolved my issue. I thought i would share the link in case others are experiencing the same problem.
