Right click on victoria3.exe , properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullScreen optimisations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply and exit.
Then in the launcher Game Settings menu, select fullScreen display mode, Vsync off, cap refresh rate at 60.

If those don't help:
DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

IF dxdiag.txt fails to attach here, rename it to dxdiag.log , or zip it up.

Hmm since I'm on MacOS I don't think I can disable fullscreen optimizations or run dxdiag.

I've turned off vsync. Of the requested attachments, error.log is from a while ago before this started happening (but attached anyway in case).

Sorry I missed you were on Mac. Those settings only apply to Windows FYI, so won't have helped you.

What happens if you run victora3.app directly from Finder? That bypasses Steam and our launcher.

When did it last work, and then first have this problem? IOW does it seem it was triggered by a game, MacOS, or other update?

Thanks - when I run it directly from finder it still crashes.

It first had the problem when I bought the Sphere of Influence DLC and downloaded it. It worked fine before then. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, and uninstalling the DLC, but nothing seems to work.

Please do a full clean re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-Vic3
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/Victoria3 AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/Victoria3 folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam Victoria3 or Documents Victoria3 locations, before installing again.

**File Locations on Mac OS X**
The executable and DLC folder are in Users/USER/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/Victoria3/
To see it go to the Finder, hit command-shift-G (ie Go To) and type in ~/Library/ .
The user files (settings files, error logs, saved games, mods) are in /Users/USER/Documents/Paradox Interactive/Victoria3/ .
