I uninstalled HOI, reinstalled, loaded patches 1.01, 1.02 and 1.03. I did not "Bolt" the new game installation. I ran HOI and started the '36 game as Americans. I was busy assigning leaders during the paused game when my entire system crashed, not to desktop but to reboot!

I'm running Win XP Pro, DirectX 9 (not beta), 512 mb RAM, ASUS P4T533-C MoBo, Geforce 3/4200 w/128 mb VRAM, P4/2.53 GHz and have current video and sound drivers (onboard MoBo sound).

Any ideas?

Sorry I missed this one up here.
First the prefered method is to just install the latest patch, Do not install the 1.01 or 1.02.

First thing to try is to rename your AVI folder to AVI_back.

Or just delete the folder and its contents, as I do. :D

Seriously though, the BINK software is just horribly unstable with Windows XP I've found. Delete the AVI folder and it's *gone.*

yup, Lots of wierd problems with lots of configs.

Not only with XP but with 2k as well. Just delete it, it just takes up useless space.

Well for me it's more a time & resolution change issue. My monitor takes a long time to change resolutions and makes a horrible popping sound when it does it so I just try to avoid it. Deleting the avi folder stops it from doing that and saves me a few seconds & clicks as well.

gunnergoz, Any luck?

Thanks!

I just wanted to thank the support guys, especially Castellon, for a job well done. :) I was having continual random CTD problems that were driving me batty. But after perusing this forum I renamed the avi folder, updated my drivers, and no more ctd's. I bet there are a few more pre-emptive problems that have been nipped in the bud this way that you just never hear about. So I wanted to say: well done! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Thanks for the feedback Weasel!

Always nice to know we are apreciated.

Glad your problems are better.
