Hi,

I've picked up the SVN version about a week ago and the game is great! I played a long game (about 50 years or so) as Roma with no CTDs.

I decided I wanted to play as a different religion, so I selected the Augusta dynasty(located about 2 south from Roma). I've started to have a lot of CTDs. I had one in about a year of playing. I was in a war with SPQR in order to take them over and become Emperor!

I was wondering what I could to do in order to narrow these down to help out? I tried looking through the log directory and didn't see any crash reports.

My computer's OS is 64 bit and it has 8 GB of RAM. I also purchased everything Steam had to offer for DLC so I'm pretty sure I'm not missing anything in this aspect.

Thanks.

PS: I also want to report a bug. The characters between SPQR do not seem to play nice with Windows, as such, the save feature doesn't seem to work for me. I have to delete the characters between the letters in order for it to save correctly. I'm sure this has been reported already but just wanted to make sure.

Can't help you with the CTDs, sadly. But I do know that this is (sort of) WAD. The team wanted the SPQR to be displayed on the map as it is now, but the trade-off is that you have to rename your save files.

Try with an updated version of the SVN. And what patch are you playing on for the base game, what DLCs do you have enabled, etc etc?

I had a feeling that was the case. I think it makes sense. And really isn't an issue after I figured it out :)

Thanks.

I can get this information for you.

Is there an easy way to get a list of DLC other than manually writing it down? Maybe a config file somewhere?

The patch I'm playing is: 2.1.6.
I will extract the latest from SVN: Will that break my current save game(if you know)?

Thanks.

Settings.txt in the documents hierarchy will list excluded DLCs... by number, not name, which isn't terribly useful.

I don't think there have been any changes to the SVN in the past week that would break saves.

Just the ones in the launcher that are checked off. Also make certain that you don't have any other mods loaded. And richvh would know more than I would if there's been any savebreaking, but I think that only happened with the map changes, really.

I get fairly frequent CTDs, and I am not sure if they're tied to an event, or a religion, or some one making some kind of war halfway across the world, or something...I guess I could look through the error log, if that'd help.

I've been playing 10 years (from 1066 to 1076) as Neapolis in the latest SVN version, and never got a crash, not even during a war against the SPQR, so I'm unable to replicate the issue. It's either something in your side, something from Paradox or...
There's a difference between the SVN version and my personal version, I've been using a different .mod file from the one provided in the SVN, one that doesn't replace as much folders, just the necessary ones.
The only side effect I've seen is the Templars building castles in Jerusalem, which is not all that bad. Here's my .mod file anyway. Try using it and see if the CTDs are gone:

Code:
name = "LuxSVN"
path = "mod/LuxSVN"
user_dir = "LuxSVN"

replace_path = "history"
replace_path = "history/characters"
replace_path = "history/diplomacy"
replace_path = "history/provinces"
replace_path = "history/titles"
replace_path = "history/wars"
replace_path = "map"

Incidentally, circumstances I got CTDs:

Playing as the Brython branch of the Artorius line (the ones in Wales), with a female ruler. All DLCs enabled save for Sunset Invasion -- worth noting that the Sunset Invasion religious titles still seemed to appear in the ledger...

The titles are there as well in vanilla; the only thing SI enables are the Aztec portraits and the Aztec Invasion events.

Played as The Huns for the last...well, ever since I made that post, with no CTD.

The only change was that I enabled Sunset Invasion...and played as the Huns instead of Artorian Brythons ofc.

I'm also getting CTDs as the Artorian Brythons, for what it's worth. Same patch, same DLCs enabled/disabled. I don't really want to have to deal with the Aztecs if that's the issue but I'd rather do that than not play at all!

I'm playing with all the mods enabled and with the Ioulianos in the Polis, and I also get a crapload of CTDs.
It's bad enough that some years I have to save five or six times to progress through with baby steps. :(

Playing SVN rev 165, iirc. No LI BLC.

I meant the other 2 guys, I know you're playing with the SVN version.

Anyway, does the game keep crashing? As hard as I try, I can't get it to crash myself as neither Neapolis or Brythonia (which seem to be the 2 main offenders). Had 2 consecutive 20 years in games as them and hadn't had a single crash.
I don't know, it might be because my specs (i7-4770K processor, 32GB ram DDR3), but I can't just get the game to crash. Do you alt-tab often or have any other programs running in the background while playing CK2? Because those 2 are known to cause crashes even in vanilla.

It generally happens when I'm browsing through the character finder, while at speed 5. I couldn't even tell you if someone declared war or anything like that, but I will say it generally only happens on the 2nd ruler or beyond, regardless of years played.

Also, I didn't mean Brythonia -- that's Blood of Artorius, yes, but the dynasty name is Pendragon. I meant Artorius proper, with the Brython culture -- it's right next door to Brythonia.

I still can't get it to crash; 30 years in game, playing as the Pelagian Artorians' 1st son (second ruler). No crashes so far, and I've been browsing the rulers frequently (just scrolling up and down on the browser though).
Try setting autosaves to 5 years instead of every one year, I've been playing with autosave every 5 years and I haven't crashed in a long time.

Other than that, I don't know. Since I'm not crashing myself, I cannot identify the crash beyond something on your side or something on the side of Paradox.
