CTD when loading a saved game

I played single player and got near the end of 1937. I saved the game. I came back to load the game and CTD'd wkile trying to load the saved scenario. I had saved it before this point and it loaded correctly that earlier time. This latest save I restarted my pc and it still CTD when loading the saved game. It's kind of frustrating when you get that far in and find out it was all for nothing...
My PC specs:
Pentium IV 3.2 Ghz
Windows XP pro
1 gig ram
GeForce FX5950 (latest driver)
Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Pro (latest driver)
All Direct X compliant!

I don't get a CTD when I load the game but I do get a lockup when I start my game

All that work and to think the liberation of France was soo close, and my sea invasion to capture Berlin before the Russians all gone...

Did the game just crash or did you get an error message when the game was loading.

What version of HoI are you running and was the game saved under the same version or an older one?

I installed the game fresh and patched it with 1.6. I have not played the game in several months and I just got this new computer about a month ago... So I wanted to try a new install of HOI and the latest 1.6 patch... I got no error message when I experienced the ctd. It attempted to load the saved game and bounced right to desktop.

I see on the support forum they advised to run a hotfix. I have not attempted that yet... But will...

Correction to my last note - a HOi FIX (not hotfix) save utility...
