CTD while loading a saved game

I played single player and got near the end of 1937. I saved the game. I came back to load the game and CTD'd wkile trying to load the saved scenario. I had saved it before this point and it loaded correctly that earlier time. This latest save I restarted my pc and it still CTD when loading the saved game. It's kind of frustrating when you get that far in and find out it was all for nothing...
My PC specs:
Pentium IV 3.2 Ghz
Windows XP pro
1 gig ram
GeForce FX5950 (latest driver)
Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Pro (latest driver)
All Direct X compliant!

Probably more of a game glitch problem than a hardware problem.
Have you tried the HOI FIX program that will repair some save games?
