So I recently purchased the whole EU:Rome shebang and patched it up to the latest beta, etc etc.

Been playing around a bit with it and thus far enjoyed myself. Or was anyway, until I hit upon a CTD issue that I can't seem to figure my way around.

I started in the first scenario (474) and idly played a few years to 478. For some reason now however it crashes whenever January turns to February. I've no clue why and I don't quite know where to even begin in regards to fixing the problem.

So, any enlightened ideas? Halp!

Let's see if you can get some more assistance here.

No luck? D:

ps. As it turns out.. Not only does it crash at the same date every time, but apparently I can't even save without it crashing. I load from the last autosave, but if I try saving manually prior to the crash it immediately ctd's. >.<

Just out of curiosity I checked it if saved the file and then crashed, or what the case was. But as it turns out it crashes during saving, because a file is created in the folder but only a few hundred KB's large as opposed to the full size of the other saves.

Have a glance at this thread and see if that helps. If not, delete the files located within your "rome/map/cache" folder. DO NOT delete the "province_textures" subfolder (this will cause Rome to weep into it's pillow at night).

If this doesn't help, make sure you have all the latest drivers for your graphics card, sound card, etc.

What version of Rome are you using? Have you updated with an official patch at all? Did you use a beta patch? If you used a beta, did the files all copy correctly?

If you're not sure of your hardware, run Dxdiag and upload the info here for someone to take a closer look at.

Hope this helps! :)

Checked the save file and there's nothing tagged with "noculturegroup" in it.

Tried deleting the map cache files, that was a no go on solving the problem.

Doubt it's anything to do with drivers because things run just fine with EU3 for example. Though I suppose it could be the culprit, I just don't quite think it is.

Patched up to latest beta, and just to be sure I re-applied it. Version 2.31c, checksum YTZM.

As for the hardware issue, I'll upload. I don't expect that's the culprit as noted, but if someone feels like taking a gander I suppose it can't hurt. And if it should happen that the problem -is- there, well then all the better if it gets found!

I'm not too good at analysing this info, but I'm sure another user would be kind enough to take a look.

The 2.31c patch may not be compatible with your current save. Maybe try a new game and let the game play out for a few years and check to see if the CTD happens at any point. Also, maybe try a new game with all the graphic / sound settings turned off or down low. I'm sure your hardware is fine, but it might help to narrow the problem down. Wish I could help more, really, as I know how frustrating it can be when you get a CTD that can't be explained.

I don't know if you have solved the problem yet, but i looked over that file, and everything at first galnce appears to be running fine. However i'm curious about two things what side programs do you run Anti-virus, Xfire, Steam, and the such. And your running 64 bit XP correct?
