I dont know if this has been mentioned before, but ive looked for it, and i havent seen any that have applied. The game seems to crash to my desktop at two different times. One is when i am attempting to load a game, i click on a file, and it just crashes. also, although a different matter, when i am able to load a game, i start as the country that i was just playing, so if i was playing france and opened a game with england, i would continue playing france. no biggie, i can get around that one. The other one is when i a surrender during a game, maybe to quit or start a new one, and the second it shows the victory points, the game crashes. I am on 533mhz piii, 196ram, DirectX 8.0, Windows 98, Geforce 3 TI 500, EU v.1.05, and thats all can think of right now. any help would be, well, quite helpful.

#1 is fixed with patch 1.05, make sure to download and install it.
To correct the situation though (1.05 will make sure it won't repeat, but to fix your current problem...), you need to edit your save game file. I can't remember exactly the name of the section you have to edit, so once I'm home, I'll post it, it's very easy to do.

#2 is a known bug. 1.05 has alleviated the problem, and you could install DX 8.1a to help a bit too. It will still crash one in five times on Win9x/WinME, but almost never on Win 2k or Win XP.

thanks a bunch for that info, after i want to get out of a game and into another, the crashes start to get annoying
um, im pretty sure i have 8.1a, but ill recheck, and 1.05 im sure i have. ill be waiting for that post, thanks.

in there, remove all tags, except for one country (any country) and it should work again.

as for the crashes, look here:

there are 2 tools, one called DX Buster and the other Detonator Destroyer, they will completely remove all traces of Direct X and Nvidia drivers from your system.

Once done, reinstall DX 8.1a and the lastest Nvidia drivers.
