I just got DV and patched it to the latest beta version after installing CK and patching that to 1.05. I've renamed the avi folder to avi_off, but every time I start a new game it crashes shortly after loading. I can play for a few minutes at most. Either it just crashes to desktop or I get a full-blown BSOD.

I have a feeling this is related to my soundcard; or rather the poor Creative drivers. Speaking of which, all of my drivers are up-to-date.

Are there any other known fixes for this issue aside from renaming the avi folder? I'll try renaming the music folder as well and see if that fixes the issue, but I was hoping I wouldn't have to do that; it sucks having to disable certain features just to play the game.

Well, it looks like I was right. Renaming the music folder did the trick, so it's probably the buggy Creative drivers. I'll report back if the crashes return. :)
