Hi,

Been playing HoI for a year or so now (with no errors). Everything had been alright until a couple of days ago...
I can play for a while then all of a sudden it will stop responding, the mouse icon freezes, turns back to my desktop mouse icon and then the whole thing CTDs. I have no clue what this could be...does anyone out there know? Thanks in advance.
 
Well the obvious question is what changed on your system between when it was working and now that it does not.
Also if you start a new game do you have the same problem?
 
I don't think that I have changed anything on my system lately. No new graphics cards, no new anything...
I am not too sure about whether or not it does the same thing when I start a new game...I've just been playing saved games. I'll try it out and post again.

Well it could be that that game has become corupted.
 
First off I should ask if the HoI Save Game Utility works on CORE games because I have been using CORE this whole time. I used it anyway and it still crashes when I play a saved game. Man, this sucks... Any other suggestions?

Yes you should have mentioned that. We do not and cannot support user made mods.
Please contact the authors of the mod for tech support.

I would like to carry on what "millscomp81" started because I'm having the same kind of issue but I've never used mods...

I have been playing for more than a year and only recently have I installed the latest patch to the game. I am playing germany and am now in dec 1939. I have saved my game and everything was working fine up to the point where I come back and try to reload this same game, I get in but after a few hour in the same day (always at 14h00) I get a CTD. I have looked at my other saved games and from july 1939 on, whenever I try to bring back a saved game, same thing occurs (at a different time however), always a few hours after I start. If I try to go further back in my saved games, it works, but when I get to the specified time area, if I save and try to back in, it will crash in a few hours.

I have fix the torpedo.txt file, I have updated my Nvidia video driver to the latest version and I have tried the small app provided on this forum to fix my saved games, hell, I even search the world map to make sure no plane were stuck in a sea zone without carriers...to no avail...

can someone give other ideas, I am not tempted to start over to get stucked at the same spot............

What Version do you have installed? Publisher (Thier logo will be on the CD)
What patch level do you have installed?
Is this a game started under an earlier patch and continued under the latest?

Thanks for answering back Castellon, I'm using the patch 1.05 ("HOI-Patch-1.05-NA.exe2"), my publisher is "strategy first" and no the game was always played under 1.05.

Doesn't 1.05c work on that? If it does, I would definitly try it if had problems with 1.05 but want to wait with 1.06. 1.05c has been around a while on this site.

<EDIT> I may got it wrong, but while just checking for the first time, it seems that 1.05c is indeed on the Strategy First own download page, so surely it should work on your NA version from Strategy First.

Wouldn't swear on there is a difference or not, but they got a link to Paradox also (Mirror2) on that version. Castelon and others would know for sure if there is a differencie or not (aside from being an exe-file, not a zip file as from Paradox... and not having the same readme...?)

That's why I asked what patch you were on, Go with 1.06, if you cannot access it now the Download page should be back up next week.
In the mean time grab 1.05C and you should be fine.
Although I cannot garauntee the old save will work with the new patch level but you should be okay.
