Well, If I were creating mod packs yes, I could be accused of stealing this, but to make a note of the legalities this game's code is OWNED by HBS, not by you or the mod makers or RT and BTA. Any modding is done with their permission (which they have granted). if you spent money, I admire your dedication to get voice work done. But if your really really bound and determined to go after me, then go do the legal thing. I live in california. I have taken no financial gain, and because you cannot SELL the mod you have zero financial loss. And that means you have no damages and there for no case. If there is damage to reputation it'll be done by you not me. (because some is being a jerk about it and it might be viewed poorly by the player base )But simply said It's not the permission of the creators of the RT and BTA mods I need, only HBS's which has all ready been granted in a limited manner applicable to all mod, and mod makers.
So want to accuse me of theft you go right ahead because that's a tort offence of defamation of character. I cannot steal what is given away for free and I do not claim ownership or credit so there is no tort offence. The files are lifted "As Is" with no further changes or modifications of any files. You technically have no rights or protections under the law. The moment it's put out there it doesn't belong to you any more because it's not copyrightable. HBS can take your code and your work and make it their own and they don't even have to ask your permission or compensate you. It's their game, their product. The good Mr GL could have a claim if I streamed the mod on you tube and got paid as could "Tex" but they are the only ones.
So, to be clear no one has stolen anything. And yea I am going to a bit of an ass hole about it. There is no legal requirement for me to ask permission, and the mod makers are not in a position to seek compensation for what is given away for free. There more to it, but what are your damages? If there is no financial loss or loss of reputation or standing there is no loss. I've not talked trash about said mod makers, work is credited internally to the files without change and the extracted file in the archive attached above is unchanged from the original files. So like I said. Give it your best shot. If you think you can bring a tort civil suit against me go for it. Please remember that Attorneys charge on average $50 per billable hour spent on a case plus any filing fee's and costs of service, and $100 per hour one it actually in a court room, and any lawyer worth their salt is going to want a deposit of not less the $500 up front.
I do know what I'm talking about. I am a retired business owner and over the years I have been to court and once on a "copyright" matter which I won. It was quite the education. The accuser ended up having to pay for my cost of defence. It wasn't cheap. You go to civil court expect to pay several grand to carry through a case. Copyright cases are NOT handled in small claims court.
Here, I'll even make it clear that if you want to get froggy, you go for it.
